The 4th Scrapbook Challenge with my pal Brooke

It was a fun challenge, again. I find all challenges fun, more or less LOL.
Buttons, tags, stamps, ribbon and doilie and the sketch below.
She totally nailed it.
I think this one is a favorite.
Love the photo of her son and hubby.
My "doilie" was a cool thing I had from pink paislee.
Brooke sent Today at 9:29 AM
I love Thickers. The loves part of my title are foam thickers.
Brooke sent Today at 9:29 AM
My tag is the arrow patterned paper....cut it up and used it to layer

My challenge from Brooke gave me a 2 spread - which I only did one
and thought what the heck - lets do a 2 page.
See that photo with my big mouth open - only a long lost
cousin I haven't seen in 40 years took it.
Love that nothing changed since we were kidlets.

My challenge from Brooke was the sketch below and
patterned paper only, 6 buttons, 6 eyelets, ACK!!! 3 stamps different mediums
WHICH IS TOTALLY OVERLOOKED THAT - SO FAIL!
and handmade flowers.
Also FAIL on eyelets - I had NOT A ONE - so I used whatever
brads I had remaining - which wasn't many.
I think I had 7 and they were all different - so I used them anyway
and they totally worked.
I was so worried about brad and eyelets forgot about stamps.
Sigh.

You will also see this page in my new 6x8 album that you can
read about here !! It turned out so pretty I think.
Can't go wrong with oxides and stamps.

Travelers Notebook as in the "pre-made" booklets.

I found a traveler's notebook - with faux leather cover
and blank inserts and since I had nothing going on at the moment
I decided to play around and decorate the covers.

Front and Back - mostly the same.
Using a stencil and stamps
I also wanted the challenge of using this more or less
as a diary and to not use dimension

- or just a tiny bit.

  LOL!
As if, however, I'm gonna roll with that -
so the first page I decided to make a "filler" page to get things rolling,
using a roller stamp
I hadn't used it like forever, and that library card.....

Swoon.

Remember when they were really popular? I was all over them.

Except for the buttons, there is noooooo dimension going on.
However, there are still a bunch of pages that are
waiting to be made.
I want to try and do better on the journaling instead of the
fluffy stuff I add now.
I used to have a bit of "color" in my journaling and somehow
I got away from it soooo...maybe if I practice
where no one is looking......

Remember that adorable raccoon photo - it's scrapped.

Love the Tim Holtz words and phrases.
They work perfect with this page.
Got to use more of those precut die cuts and I love that.
Still sort of watching the dimension
and I'm loving this new book I'm using.
Don't you love that die cut from a flash in the past
when we looked at those viewfinder thingies.
Actually it's the old campground book -
that had really REALLY UGLY
pages that I ripped out to start anew.
Loving the new look in the book now.

That baby raccoon was so adorable.
Just sitting in the grass at sundown (I was there to
capture the sunset) when an eagle-eyed
photographer saw him gazing from the grass.

Travelers Notebook - Heceta Lighthouse

Lighthouses just make me swoon.
They are just soooo cool looking, have "romantic" pasts
that involved a lot of work and sometime solitary existences for
the lightkeepers. So yeah my darling sweet hubby
chases down lighthouses for me.
I remembered I had some thread so I popped some
in along with some frayed "cloth" for
some dimension and texture.
Some Tim Holtz paper.
Breaking out my MS alpha punch again.
Love that font.

Mixed Media - Make a wish

This page with the black lines was done for the Monkey Man page.
The monkey was going to dangle on the page
and well it looked..stupid.
I abandoned this page until I came upon this photo
of my brother's birthday party rolling around in my embellishment bin.
I am also using stash from my embellishment/die cut extravaganza and
these primary colored flowers are perfect for the photo.
The photo was actually printed on regular paper because I had
visions of using it in a junk journal.
Since I'm not doing well with the junk journal thing it was perfect
for this page.
Sadly, all I know in this photo is my brother (with the black
suspender look) and I'm the cranky looking one
jealous of the attention he's getting. LOL.
Evidently I'm in trouble because everyone's looking my way.
Love the buttons galore tossed about. I happen to have
a jar in just primary colors.
Shazam.
Love the sequins and those itty bitty red bits.
Adding a bit of color.
And no page is complete without some Tim Holtz words
topping it off.

Mixed Media - Monkey Man

If you been following, and I hope you have,
I posted yesterday all my homemade embellishments here
and I have made a page using one of the monkeys.
The monkeys are big and adorable and I love the googly eyes.
In the background, I used smoke grey ink on
the Tim Holtz stencil "coffee stains"
with some red raspberry ink since the page
turned out to be almost monochromatic - but I wanted
to use red because of the heart in the quote
and it needs the red ink to tie it all together..
I tossed some buttons "galore" around
which have those itty bitty little fun pieces are well as sequins.
I was inspired by these two itty bitty photos
of Shane at 3 months that was rattling around in my
embellishment bin.
I've scrapped this photo before because it's really
a cute story about my baby having so much fun getting
his photo taken in Walmarts and laughing so loud
everyone in the store came to see the fun he was having.

However, his nickname was monkeyman because he used
to curl his toes like monkeys do. LOL.

And here come more buttons

So it looks like I'm obsessing between and buttons
and doilies. Aren't you guys lucky LOL.
Anyway on a couple of the buttons are these
transparent sorta stickers.
Makes you look a bit more into the page so see what's what.
Love that perfect flair pin, and did the same
with those stickers on the buttons on the bottom half.
Doodled about the page and needed to have
washi tape over the diagonal line.
I seem to need to have something over a line like that.
I put the photo on an angle which sounds better than crooked
mostly because I was in that kind of mood.
I've wanted to use the title word "this" for along time and
finally, one more word left in that pack to go.

It's kind of simple and just realized that I didn't splatter
anything. I may or may not add that.

Buttons galore and it won't be the last LOL

So instead of rolling with tags, I've changed to buttons.
Fair exchange.
Don't you find in your creative process that
one item just keeps on giving.
So the heart and arrow are there because
the blue strip just stops and it made me crazy.
Short trip.
Who doesn't love a kitty peeking out of a file folder.
I need to cut more folders.
LOL.
Or not, don't want to get obessed with them.
These are their school photos - my kidlets never had
really good photos - you can tell dad is a photographer.
They have those poses nailed.
I have wanted to use 1st and 3rd title ever since
I did their back to school page and
didn't use it.
I thought of it after everything was nailed down.
That ever happen to you?

Using paper scraps whacked

So I've done this before and didn't want to do the same
thing again, NOTHING wrong with doing
the same thing again.
I do a number of things on my pages over and over.
So...I embraced my inner Lisa Fonseco. If you haven't
checked out her u-tube channel sashsay on over.
She has the most adorable, hand done pages.
It's fun to watch them take shape.
So...
Needing to use up the 999 straws that I have
I tossed in a "stem and leaves" and
voila a really dynamite challenge done with slim to no
artistic talent.
Of course I have a ton of buttons that need to be used and
you'll be totally seeing them again mostly
in the same colors because I seem to rolling with
similar colors too.
So how adorable is that.
Seriously.
It's too cute and I love that its BIG.
I don't usually do BIG that often but I'm gonna
figure out some more slim to none
artistic stuff.
Notice the "tag" tucked in the back.
Sigh.
As I've been rolling with the tags.
LOL!

The other "bloom" on the page is Miss Amelia
who rocks playground.

Rustic mini album

I believe I mentioned that I had a bunch
of these sunflowers Holli stamped for me and
that you'd see more of it!!!
I wanted to make a mini album as a gift for my pal Tobie
who is my boxbuddy for workouts.
And pulling all my papers out I didnt' really have a "theme"
going on. Not that a theme is necessary
it just helps when putting things together.
In the process of trying to pull out papers and figuring things out,
I decided that in using the sunflower it really
wouldn't go with anything I had, but, I really wanted to use it
and then a lightbulb went off -
Why did I have to cover up this chipboard with paper.
Hmmmm????
 A challenge!!!
I did find some "rustic" cards, tried my hand at a "shaker"
we'll see how well that works LOL.
Employed a bunch of stamps (fussy cutting), punches and buttons galore.
I really love how it turned out.
All the photo mats are 3.5x4.5 so if my pal uses
3x4 photos there's plenty of room even when I put
embellishments near the mats.

Studio Calico stamps, various punches, Hero Art stamps, buttons
galore and cardstock.

Rearranging things & Scrapping with Holli

We both were on a total roll scrapping and sometimes
it's fun with a friend and she has a terrific room
with lots of stuff.
Anyway, this photo was replaced by a deer photo
that is now hanging in our bathroom.
Holli stamped a few of these sunflowers for me and
I found that they are perfect for this page.
I brought my buttons galore and dumped them in the
middle of the sunflower and used
some watercolors to give it a bit more umph.
These wild horses are from Assateague and
are so beautiful in real life I would recommend putting Assateague
on your bucket list - but keep an eye on prevailing winds.
You do not want west winds blowing - they bring in the biting flies and
the horses tend to not be as available as
they are when the winds are perfect.
 I also decided that
I wanted to do another 8x10 on 12x12 as it
allows for more dodads that don't overwhelm the photo.

Everyday Adventure

Love this paper with the star cutouts, so I decided
to roll with gold stars.
I especially love the Buttons galore, they come
with those neat sequins and itty bitty red things.
So cool.
Oh after I glued the sides of the stars back I stitched the stars down.
I even stitched around the page.
I left the thread wild because its a wild page.
There is Spidey on the loose with his trusty scooter
on the streets of Brooklyn.
Does Sam not rock the look?
Very fun!

Redoing an ugly page

So prior to leaving on our 3 month vacation I did this page.
Not only did I do it ONCE,
I did it TWICE.
The same way, the same colors.
Who does that? LOL... Twice - shows I
totally needed a vacation,
And its beyond ugly.
So, I shuffled it aside and knew that I'd redo it.
I really would've liked the same paper so we could
go for a third try but I wasn't quick enough
to snatch it up at Studio Calico.
So..
One of the first things I did after hurricane prep was
redo this page.
I liked the other stuff on the page so I basically
cut off the yellow checked paper
and glued the entire piece on this pink paper
that is actually more fitting because I think at one
time my gram actually had wallpaper like that.

Everyday photo

Using Studio Calico again and those adorable buttons galore.
And of course, the Heidi shine went berserk.
Sigh.
Used up a little piece of vellum with hearts too.
AND bonus round, the square with "home" on it
with its thick chipboard got on the page.
And that camera is sooooo adorable.
So here's Sam either ready to leave
doesn't want to leave
or doesn't want someone to come in.
LOL.
He's totally adorable in his winter coat and hat.
Tried something a bit different for me design wise.
I like it.
I tend to really overthink things.
Big Sigh over the splats when I first splattered
but they look quite good now.

Using diecuts for this page

I have an array of sissix and quickutz dies and
decided - why not. (also punches)
There are times - alot of times, actually, I can't find or don't
have in my possession the
premade embellishments that I want
or that go with the photo/page I'm creating so
I've been digging into my stash.
The generic ones can be precut ahead of time and I do
have a box full of them.
Sometimes they work- sometimes they don't either. LOL.
So I do cut out white - they seem to work best and
then "jazzed" these up with some watercolors because
they appeared too "stark" for this page.
And these buttons - are sooooo cool.
Love all the goodies you get in the jar.
These are from Buttons galore and this jar
comes with all these colors, the sequins and those
itty bitty glassy thing up on the flower.
Tossed some mist about.
Here's Annie and Lucy taking a great photo.
They never take a bad pix.
(which is totally annoying to those of us that do LOL)
Studio Calico, Bazzil cardstock.
