Mini album of scraps

I was feeling mojo-less - nothing worse --
so I decided that my scrap box was out of control
and what would the harm be if
I just assemble some mini album books.
Nothing big mind you and no pressure.
Well.
I have done 4 and 3 are completed in about a day.
Who knew?????
So up first is this one.
Since I didn't get stressed over the papers in the book
I decided to roll with the same approach for
the embellishments.
 And it was really freeing.

In hindsight though this piece of vellum may not
have been a good idea - I stitched the
book together and the vellum doesn't seem to
be holding up very well.

No harm no foul if it falls out.

I love how it turned out and I'm not sure what kind of
photos I'll be putting in there but it'll be fun!!!

Lines and clusters

I had a vision when I started this page and
at the end I really didn't realize the vision but I still love the page.
I stamped the line across and used ribbon
and washi tape for this sequence of photos wanting to use
the lines as a "movement" and grounding.
I kept the clusters really similar and near the photos
again to help in the grounding
especially since the lines aren't too straight.
I also wanted to use a lot of textures - thread, ribbon, washi
to work with the stamping.
Using smaller photos they were able to be nestled in between
the lines with the clusters.
Since I had my QK emily out, I again, used this font
for the title using this green vellum
as well as for the photo mats.
I sewed around the edges and my machine
was totally wonky - so once I started I had to finish.
Sigh.

I added the journaling along the lines
and I think that pulls it altogether. It may not have
turned out to be my 'vision' but I like the end result.

Vellum title

As well as some embellies.
I simple to use vellum as shapes and they
do add so much so I
spruced those circles up with some stamping.
And that cool tree in which
I have a love/hate relationship with. That tree from Spellbinders
is sooo intricate and no matter how many times I run
it through the die machine, including using wax paper
it is really tough to get it out of the paper in one piece.
especially with cardstock.
But alas its a cool tree.
 More tags.
I love tags.
They are perfect as they are or to use for
journaling, place for embellies or to just be.
The title was die cut from QK Emily font.
Its a beautiful font and I should use it more.
Remember back in the day lower case and caps came separate?
Well I never purchased the capital letters for it - so maybe
I'll hunt them down on ebay.
The title curtesy of my pal - April.
 Some ranger mists going on.
This came out really cool and the Studio Calico paper
perfect for this photo.
I love this photo and as I say in my journaling
I'd love to be a bug in the grass eavesdropping on this conversation
Annie and Owen seem to be having.

Sewing around the edges

This page of brothers just needed that
something extra to bring it all together.
If you'll notice that tag - you saw that same tag top
on yesterday's page.
Funny story that.
I tucked it into the envelope to see if it would fit.
and when I glued everything down
it appears that the glue bled through and
it stuck to the envelop.
I therefore, cut the top off because I wanted to
journal on that card and made
another tag to tuck in there.

 Kept everything to a minimum
because the photo is fun.
Tucked some vellum in there because it looked cool.
And the title is from that packet I got from M's.
Those titles have really come in handy.

Vellum on your whole page

In this case I used the whole piece
because the minute I saw it - I loved it, and
it was perfect for this photo of Shane.
I remember having a manual typewriter and having
papers turn out like this.
Hmmm if I had another piece I could do an entire page about that.
Anyhoo.....
the gold blobs.
I have always wondered and, I know you have too,
how some scrappers can flick sweet little mists on by tapping
with ONLY their index finger (while I, and others I'm sure,
Have to Pound ON it to get said flicks).
Well after this "pound on it mist spreading adventure"
-I found they were using Heidi Swapp mists.
Her mists flick so easy that you really have to pay attention.
So take heed and be warned.

I cut out this heart from a cut apart as an added pop
and the gears and metal to make it manly
as well as the subtle "go for it."
It brings down the white and actually works.
I bought a pack of those feathers from HL and
there are different colors in the pack - I used the
gold because it worked with the overall page.

Patching together a base page

That you can't see.
Because I didn't think to take a photo because
in the first design -
you'd almost have seen it.
This is an 8x8 page.
Somehow when I whacked into it, it became a lesser size.
So I squared it off to 8x7.5 and used the remaining paper, the B side
and washi'd them together.
I then decided that looked really stupid and added some water colors
and running colors.
Found some vellum, the die cut and a photo and decided that
it needed to be over top the patch.
Because I found the awesome tag at the top and it took up room.

So that blue streak at the bottom is a studio calico stamp, along with
everything else on the page except for the bazzill, qk die cuts and punches.
OH and I handwrote the title.
And I tried to go for a less beachy looking page. Not that I'm
against beachy looking pages but I've done them the same way lots of times.
And I wanted something different.
Snap!

Cyber scrapping rocks

Especially when its with a pal that loves a challenge.
April chose the lift - upper right corner in a 2008 Simple Scrapbooks Jan/Feb issue. It was a fun challenge. My page as you will recognize my favorite eldest son and my amazing granddaughter. I used patterned paper (studio calico) vellum, washi, and cutout card with some mist going on. I kept the title because it fit. Didn't do alot of journaling because it really doesn't need it.

April kept to the spirit of the page changing up the title and location of the heart.  We both kept to the 8.5x11 size.

The challenge of it was fun and I find it amazing that pages that were created "back in the day" still resonate today. They have a classic look, like the little black dress. Trends come and go but that little gem somehow continues to rule the day. The same in scrapbooking. I love the trends, but I feel it sometimes "dates" my pages. (Think 80's hairdos).
However, in 100 years from now, I'm hoping those next generations prize and cherish the pages I created and they will never know that A. The latest and greatest products weren't used, and B. Trends may or may not have been followed.

Vellum paper

I tend to forget about vellum.
It became somewhat of a trend midway in the scrapbooking phenomenom
and of course I and everyone else jumped on that bandwagon.
And then like all trends it tended to fall away.
Well I happen to have some leftover from that trend and am
bringing it back. Why?
Because it is very versatile with its sheer, opaque quality.
It can add elegance, soften patterns and mute colors.
It also can be a pain to adhere because the adhesive can be seen.
Unless your very stealthy in applying it.
For instance, the only adhesive on the vellum is hidden behind the photo
with a couple pieces of the washi tape.
The top is being held in place by the tag and cloud.
Stamping and writing on it can be tricky.
I used Stazon ink which will dry quickly without smearing.
Everything Studio Calico except for the tag- old Basic Grey that worked perfectly.
I love their face masks and I'd pretend to snowboard just so I could wear one.
Or maybe for Halloween - that would work for me.
Lessens the capacity for impending disaster.

The second page I completed

is titled "channeling Lady GaGa" and I believe it was one of the first I kitted. I ended up with a lot of stuff in there because I couldn't make up my mind. I'm sure you're surprised. I ended up using different alphas and background papers.
This set of photos is hysterical. With a firm grasp on technology Owen was able to set up the karioke session for Annie - who handled the limelight quite well.
Sing it Annie.

Prizes were there for the takin' at the crop but you had to have the dice when the bell and/or sound went off. It was a hilarious undertaking. You call for the dice once your page is completed. I think I just touched the die when someone else completed their page and had the dice in their possession. It made for a fun time and the prizes were sweet.
I managed to win 3.

I used a bunch from the studio calico kit = pp, tim beck alpha, and the cork cameras, stars & brad. Got some Jillybean soup, thickers and dear lizzy, a punched flower and lacy heart. I added the vellum to take a bit of the busy-ness away.
Worked perfectly.
It surprises me too!!

Live creatively

I couldn't decide - sweet & silly girl.
Love them both.
And Amelia's a hoot.
Mama's got her hands full.
It appears she loves the spiderman mask and
evidently wears it often.
Of course what is a super hero outfit that doesn't
have a tutu, leg warmers and blingy sandals.
You just gotta laugh.
So using crate paper, and lots of other cool things from my
Studio Calico kits makes me love how fun this page turned out.
Cool things: kesi'art templates with some gesso
going on to make the dots.
Two stamps from the new kit and also using the vellum title
and badge from the add-on kit
this month. Feathers and cut apart from other kits.
Twine.

Love you to the stars and back

First off, how can you not love this photo.
Upon further inspection it looks like Ms Amelia
is dressed for warmth.
Check out those sandaled feet.
Totally cracks me up.

I loved this paper the moment I saw in my SC kit.
And it was quite overwhelming.
The colors are perfect. I love that they aren't pastel
or fru-fru....Sort of fall but not quite.
I found some vellum way back in the stash and it was perfect.
How often does that happen.
I picked up a pack of Dear Lizzy labels & tags and
wouldn't you know they were perfect too.
The jillybean soup buttons finally got used.
Had them forever.
They are sewed with twine directly to the page.
The rest just worked amazingly well together.
