In case you missed the February mood board at OTR

The colors are beautiful and everyone is doing an excellent
job with it.
There's still time for you to join in the fun
over at OTR.
It was a challenge for me - I really didn't have a lot of these colors.
But I managed.
And I really love the result.
It didn't start that way I must admit.
This paper from Studio Calico was quite daunting.
I really have issues with pages with scenes.
Therefore, I practiced "minimal" which is tough to do.
Watercolors helped.
Very fun.
Give it awhirl and post over at OTR - there's an amazing prize involved.

Studio Calico.

Sneaky peek of my take on the color challenge!

Click on the link at Off the Rails Scrappbooking and check it out.
Love the pallette.
After a lot of contemplation, I have decided to step down from
my position on the OTR Design Team.
OTR is a wonderful place for inspiration and the designers
I worked with are phenomenal.
I will continue to hang out with them and look forward to seeing their projects.

A tutorial in using a nontraditional color palette For Christmas

Still working on the time zone visual.
Still having issues.
Still under the weather.
among other things - over at Off the Rails scrapbooking.
Here's a glimpse of my take.
I finally got to use that stupid flower soft I had laying around
for centuries.

Color challenge page for October

This is my take on the color challenge over at Off The Rails Scrapbooking!
It was fun working the challenge out using graphic 45
Bohemian Bazaar paper.
I have to admit I was intimidated by the wild colors
however, that's what made it fun.
I fussy cut the flowers from one of the sheets, and dug out
of my stash those big "flair" (remember that line?) colored flowers.
And turned it into a heritage page!!!
One of my favs!

Stating the obvious in a title

There are times when it just makes sense.
And this is just too adorable not too.
Seriously.
Love the photo and the boyz.
They are too cute and fun.
I ran out of S's in this alpha pack.
For some reason there are never enough alphas in the
pack no matter where they land in the alphabet.
Shocking.
I did do some painted grey and white rings in the background
to kinda soften up the busy.
An empty toilet paper roll is all you need.
Of course you can use a paper towel roll but since I'm
a klutz the paper tower roll can be a bit top heavy and clunky
and takes up more room than the smaller roll.
The rings work out to be the same so the choice is yours.
I did diecut the arrows - I'm getting less lazy on whipping out the diecuts
and getting 'r done. Also I like that customization
is a great option.
I love those Evalicious arrows and they will be making a lot of appearances.
I can't resist.
The paper is unknown - but perfect.

A sneaky peek of my upcoming tutorial for
Off the Rails Scrapboooking!
Check it out for amazing inspiration!
STAY TUNED!

Off the rails Scrapbooking challenge

Chipboard!
Pop on over to Off the Rails and see what the team has created.

I used a combination of chipboard and Tim Holtz grungeboard
which is chipboard with an attitude.

Used some older product - My Mind's Eye, Authentique,
and yes, Studio Calico. QK cookie cutter for the heart,
my Martha Stewart punch and washi tape..

I used watercolor on the chipboard because I didn't have enamel
paint that matched. Actually the watercolor didn't come
close either. So I swooshed it around and mixed.
Several times.
Fortunately you can flip the arrows around.

Love the photo and the title actually popped into my head.
Surprised me.
LOL.

Spring - for Off the Rails challenge

This is my page for the challenge at OTR for April.
It was a color palette and sketch challenge.
I have troubles with color palette challenges because I
never have the exact colors. Or all of the colors.
Which is why its a challenge.

Love these older papers by Jillybean soup.
And if they don't have the exact colors - they have a facsimile thereof.
And you can't have spring without butterflies.
Nor is there not sprint without an adorable kidlet celebrating
that winter, long, cold, hard winter is history.
More or less - because this has been quite the fickle year.

Check out the rest of the design teams creations!

More reveals happening at Off The Rails

Here's the page I made for my tutorial over at OTR. It was fun to do.  I picked the fun colors out of the photo.
Of course I used my Studio Calico kit for the majority of it.
There's also a reveal going on the free for all
over at OTR here and here.

Had a lovely semi-unplugged weekend at the state parks in the keys.
I already posted some shots but there's more.
Got more great shots that I need to edit and post.
So stay tuned.

Free For All Reveal at Off the Rails Scrapbooking

You need to check it out here!
And you will see the DT's interpretation.
I decided to go with this.
Scrapping on an 8.5x11 and its a lighthouse.
I love lighthouses.
And this lighthouse is what took my eyes of the parking
lot and where I fell and broke my lens.
Because the camera naturally
broke my fall.
I was so NOT a happy camper that day.
However, all was fixed and life is
awesome!

Remember that post I teased

about here? Well its challenge time at Off the Rails
Scrapbooking and the challenge is create your own embellishment.
TADA for one in a row when I was actually ahead of the curve for a change. The tag has some gesso going on along with some mists and alcohol inks.
I chose some Paper Studio pattern paper because I just love the greenish/blue stripes.
It makes the best girlie girl page ever. I took my honeycomb stencil and modeling past and made some honeycombs on the page.

Does the texture rock or what.
I grabbed my watercolors and just sloshed some paints over the honeycombs.

Watercolors are so forgiving and you don't have to be a Rembrandt to use it.

I picked up some kraft doilies. Kraft is another favorite with bluish/green and it accented the tag nicely as I used it for a mat. A B&W photo was perfect for all the elements. Found a bag of hearts I got carried away punching and tossed them on the page. I don't remember the alphas - but they are soooooo cool and fun and blingy.

As an aside, my kidlets always called their toes piggies or pigs until about kindergarten. I am carrying on tradition with grands.

Head on over to Off the Rails Scrapbooking and check out the design teams creations. Also play along and hopefully win a lovely prize. Join the facebook page and post your page!
Can't wait to see!

Off the Rails Scrapbooking Challenge Revealed

A sketch and color challenge combo...
by Diana Gonzalez

AND ta - da
my version
You are my sunshine.....
I concentrated more on the orange with some stamping
and more on the pink with some flowers from spare parts.
The doilies are the gold ones that I used in a previous
page here and I used some MM paint - manila
to change up the color to match the challenge.
I also changed up the elements at the bottome of the
sketch - using the flower to emulate the same kind of design
as in the top.
Brought in some green because I liked it.
Click here to see what the rest of the team created
and join in the fun!!!

Working with acrylic

In case you didn't check out the Off the Rails challenge #1
use acetate - go on over and check it out.
This is my version of the challenge.
I decided to make a 12x12 scrapbook page on acetate.
I learned a few things which was different
than making acetate albums, I found.

1. Like don't peel off the blue backing while misting and using
alcohol ink on the acetate.
2. Do not mist and ink while the humidity is high.
(Unfortunately in Florida humidity is the norm).
3. While waiting for the mist to dry and in hurrying it along with
embossing powder - DO NOT use the heat gun with the blue paper on.
It is NOT pretty and its very difficult to remove.
Here's how it looks without the blue paper.
You really need to have backing to see what's what.
And isn't my kitchen rockin' or what.
I got the blue backing off - very very carefully.
And it was warped.
Not happy with the warping.
SO I put some paper behind to make sure what
goes where when I begin the placement of the elements.
Can I say that I am totally giddy with delight as to how the
misting and alcohol ink is designed on the acetate.
It was hard finding a surface to photograph it on.
The misting made me swoon.
The alchohol drips made me swoon.
A close up of the cluster amidst the inks and sprays.
I had the best time with taking thephotos.
NH in Autumn is beautiful.

Stay tuned for the next Off the Rails challenge to be revealed on
December 27th.
