Mixed Media- artist

I have learned to make paint swirls with a paintbrush
that actually look pretty cool.
Go me.
I did use a polka dot roller for the yellow dots
which worked out perfect I think.
Lots of layers going on with Pink fresh, TH bird and
some stamps that were fussy cut out.
I did breakout the die cut machine because
I wanted to use this font (Vixen) for
the title.
Filled up the entire page and balanced everything on out.
Very fun.

Music to my Ears

Using Pink Fresh and a snapcatch from
instagram - a fun, sort of girly page evolved.
There's even journaling there - no need to add more.
I whacked the 12x12 down to 8.5x11 because
that is one of the sizes I am using now.
I have used this size intermittently before because
I really love all sizes and hate to be limited in my choices.
But...
Again, a photo of Annie and I scrapping her photos
in the little albums I made for her
and Owen - the background (see arrow)
is playing his saxaphone.
And as you can see it wasn't a pleasant sound.
However, who doesn't love a sax and some music
to scrap by LOL.
Journaling by dad: When you start learning to play the saxaphone
you are more Goose than KennyG.

Took me a minute to get that.
But I gots it now!

Title is a mix of QK Spicy Chicken and Studio Calico alphas.

Making a wild page - wilder

Because why not.
This is the SC January kit - Summit and
This paper just spoke to me in all
its colorful, wild glory
that I knew my leftover flamingo
would be soooo perfect.
(The flamingo was leftover from the "cards"
I made for the grands. See here.
More pink and really more pink
how wrong can that be???
And then found the perfect PL card to use as a title.
Little bit of journaling in the
 conversation bubble.
Then I went to some older photos because I
knew I had some flamingo pix
with Owen in them.
And yup. Jungle Gardens when he visited in 2013.
Of course a frame is required to contain
some of the wildness.
This was just a lot of fun.

Fun birthday page

Using ledger paper from Studio Calico.
I love ledger paper.
Did some background stamping using a block
dot stamp and TH distress inks - spiced marmalade
and peeled paint.
Also used stars stamp from a SC pack with black ink
and I don't remember the MFG on the birthday candles and "presents".
There's some old Basic Grey in there too.
Owen turned  9 - this past September.
That went really fast and it wouldn't hurt my feelings
if all the grands slowed this down a bit.

A bit monochromatic

Which I love every now and then and it is
perfect for this photo of Owen.
Love the hat, the pose, the smile.
Love this paper from Pebbles and paired it up
with some old Basic Grey and
just a bit of embellishment that went sort of
'old' school.
It totally focuses on the photo.

Going round in circles

Broke out the ole circle scissors.
I have a love/hate relationship with that tool mostly
because I'm highly uncoordinated.
Using the packaging technique with mists I pulled the colors
from the washi tape that came in the Studio Calico November kit.
I miss my firework, splash, grass punch.
It just disappeared one day and I KNOW I would NEVER
have given it away.
These splats are courtesy of my pal Holli who punched
a bunch in advance for me.

I think this turned out to be very fun with the circles and the mists.
Once again are those MAMBI alphas.

Using the same design sort of

I'm okay with that.
Just got this fun paper on sale from Studio Calico
shopping on the road LOL.
It's perfect for two little boys checking crab tracks
at the shore.
I was in a giddy mood at the time
and gave the ole crab googly eyes.
Tossed some mists about.
Love these layers of old scraps.

Artful pages

Thankfully art is alive and well in schools and
my grandkids are quite talented artists.
So it was really fun to document
and today I have created two layouts
for your blogreading delight.
So how about that adorable pup.
He's a very old Technique Tuesday stamp.
Again I used most of my Studio Calico
and Creative Cafe stamps around this page
 and
because that wasn't busy enough
I threw in the Tim Holtz stencil, using yellow paint
with modeling paste.
Added a few do-dads namely my homemade enamel dots, arrows and a heart sticker and called it a day.
Kraft paper is the base cut down to 8x8
And honestly all 3 artists made some mighty fine art
AND I WANT THEIR ART FOR SCRAPBOOK PAGES.
How cool would that be....
I didn't want to be a copy cat on the second page
so I lifted once again a prize ribbon from Soaphouse Mama
- she does them all the time and what better
embellie could there be but that.
And I cut the circles myself - mostly because I didn't have
punches that nested that closely and I'm normally not that brave LOL.
The little bird is from some no-name embellishments
I picked up at Michael's and
those stars are from Studio Calico kit and finally
used them babies all up.
Yay!!!
Because it was a wild background that I keyed off
of from the artwork I gessoed where the photo and do-dads are
and found I liked it just fine and left it there.
The heart arrow is wooden - and stuck out like a sore thumb
in its pure form so I smooshed some watercolors
around to match the stars and wa-la.
Worked out well.

Fourth Kit from the crop

This one was the last at the crop and
it  was kinda called on account of time ran out.
I did use the papers but not necessarily those
stickers and cut apart sheet.
I found that they were not the look I was
looking after I was putting it together.
Still Basic Grey but clipping lines went much better.
and because it wasn't busy enough I added some
American Craft roller dots with my favorite Vintage photo ink.
Also a bit of mist was splatted about.
I sort of called it "done" at the crop but when I
got home I studied on it more
and it just needed that something extra.
At the top here I added some Carte Postale
behind the gold "notebook" mat and also below
and a banner sticker next to the arrow on the right.
It does bring more focus to the photo
which is a totally cool photo.
This is all Basic Grey except for the
alphas - Studio Calico.

Border diecuts are cutting edge

There are a few languishing in my drawer that I forgot I owned.
Sad that I have so much I can't remember it all.
But its all coming back now.
Bam!
And because I didn't have enough paper already
I picked up the Echo Park Capture Life pack.
AND I LOVE IT.
The colors work perfectly.
And all the cutouts and stickers, oh my.
I used my "shine" stamp from Studio Calico on that
blank bannery card, works perfect.
However, now looking at the 3rd card - which is blue -
I should've put it in the middle.
Too late.

Anyhoo, I dug out my sissix border diecuts.
Love the delicateness of it - it doesn't take over.
So the confetti came from the border-all those itty bitty holes.
How fun is that.
There's a studio calico stamp, stars and badge.
Thickers.

First day of Kindergarten, always a milestone.
I shortened the title because I love that fun font but didn't
have all the letters.
I think its cool.
Hopefully someone/anyone will get it.

The splatter of mist that's sort of covered up

Which is just the opposite of the post from yesterday.
You can do it -- no splats...
Still working through the Lawn Fawn supplies when a bottle of
Mr. Huey arrived - and had to be tried.
You can kind of see it you look really really hard.
Its called Sunset.
And once splattered I thought it looked
well stupid.
Therefore it need to be covered up as best as could be.
And that explains the design.
Because I was quite liberal with the splats.
Took a stroll through M's and was drawn to the kraft jar (Recollections).
With Avacado arts bugs flying inside.
Then picked up the Webster Pages arrows.
Swoon.
And then there you have Annie & Owen rearranging the dirt.
Love it.
