St. Patrick's day is a-comin'

And I wanted to make a little something for the grands.
So in the spirit of treating the older grands a bit different than
the littles I made them cards with a knock-knock
joke I stole off the internet somewhere.
(The INSIDE- says I RISH you a Happy St. Patrick's day.
I thought it was a hoot....

The smaller bows have a "coin" with a shamrock
glued onto a punched die cut that also says
Happy St. Patrick's day - and that bow behind them
was a ribbon I saved from Lou's baby shower.
Lou is now 5 years old.
There's also a glue dot on the back if they want to
hang them off themselves or somewhere else.
Their initials are in the center to personalize it a bit.

I rolled into Easter after this - trying to make shakers
that turned into an absolute disaster - so back to the drawing
board on those.

4x4 photo on a 6x6 page

Love the look - they are perfect sizes for each other.
It all started out wanting to use this paper that I whacked down
for something else. I also love that I purchased
two of each papers and I think I'll do that going forward.
Anyhoo, I really liked both sides of this paper and ended up
using the same side of this paper twice.
Love the clusters going on at the top and bottom.
And the "notebook" paper looks gives it lots of texture.
I also went crazy with different colors of green.
Also the white splatters - I have given up on white mists
and now just use white enamel paint watered down a smidge.
And it stays white and not a goofy grey.

Sweet photo of Sam.

Heritage-ish photo from wayback box

This find is a fun gem.
It happens to be my gram with two of her
sister-in-laws and, in that they were BFF's, and
moreover, sisters in a Golden Girls
type way that was totally fun to look back on
now that I'm older.
Anyway, I decided to do a Missy Whidden and pull
out some watercolors and whack up some papers using a white background.
I also got to use my new Spellbinder die for the clouds.
The embellishments are My Mind's Eye and are perfect for this photo.
And I'm not real sure on the date - so going by
what I remember of their style and hair.
I keyed the colors off of Aunt Toot's jacket (short sound on the OH's).
Just sayin'....
Love their sassy attitudes saying they're
all that which is what makes this photo fun because
they didn't show their sassiness too often.
Love how this turned out and it was so much fun
to get my head out of that mentality that heritage photos
need to be well "heavy" and heritagy looking.

One of my favorite designs

That I lifted from Shimelle for 3 photos on a page.
The photos I used are 4x4ish and
having a cluster to the right of them is a lot of fun
Using some WRMK birthday pocket card.
Studio Calico papers that I bought 2 of this
time because there are always those A-B sides that is so cool
that makes decisions so difficult to use both.
Solved it!
Sam's third birthday was a spiderman theme
so I used spiderman colors for
these fun B&W photos and of course those fun stars.

A couple of old Fogies

This is so adorable and lots of fun.

So for 100 days at school, the school decided that
the kidlets should come to school
as old fogies - old people
or really really old people.
Like 100 years old.
 And aren't they a hoot.
Old school.
LOL.

And from what I understand, the grandkidlets
were total hams about it.
Look the way they are leaning on the canes.
LOL.
I only hope to look that good at 100.
Echo Park paper that reminded me of my gram's wallpaper
and of course and old telephone from My
Mind's Eye helps set the tone.

Love the mustache.

4x4 Album Perfect size to be gifted

I happened to be shopping in Hobby Lobby
just looking.....actually for some
Key West stuff (which there are none).
And in their sales bin was this 4x4 Becky Higgins
project life album for $2.15 so
on a whim I picked it up.
Mainly because I couldn't decide what the gift
album I wanted to make for my friends
who accompanied us to Key West.
I seriously LOVE this size and I'm going to pick up more.
I can so see this on one of my RV trips.
It had 2 different page protectors - a regular 4x4
and protectors that have 4 2x2 inserts.
 And how fun are they.....
I did intersperse them throughout instead of
leaving them all lumped together as the "same same."
I thought I took a lot of photos and in hindsight
alas, I did not.
So some of the photos are 2x2 and 4x4.
And that's okay too.
 A journaling spot.

I used some Basic Grey stickers and QK dies, EK Success words.
The last one is a Technique Tuesday stamp
and love putting them on projects I gift.

Instead of sending Valentine cards

I made these monkeys, one of each sex, on a straw for all the grands
instead of a card. 10 of them in all.
They were a lot of fun to make and as an
extra goodie, I wrapped $1 bill around the straw and
used a piece of twine to hold it on.
I'm told they were a big hit.

So the girl monkey has eyelashes and earrings.
Gold earrings. LOL!!!

Same photos - different pages

I do little 8x8 pages for the family and I also
make pages for me....
Since I used the same photos it made sense
to post the pages in the same blog post.

I made an 8.5x11 for me of the granddaughter snowboarding
using a series of photos sent to me.
Using the Tim Holtz  coffee splatter stencil about
the page using white ink - I was disappointed when the ink
dried - as it was going on, and I layered it quite a few times
it looked like "snow." As it dried, however, it looks
like a spill. Used up an acetate ticket.
 Tucked some  QK snowflakes around
along with some bling.

Studio calico paper going on with some red things glued about too.

So below since the entire family went snowboarding
I did a 8.5x11 pocket page for them
using the same sequence of photos along with
the others.s
Used some of the Pink Fresh Christmas embellishments
scattering them about, some punched arrows
and Studio Calico stamp.

Tomorrow we're headed to the keys for a few days
of camping. Internet will be dicey but we're gonna have some fun!

Love this pink washed paper

from Studio Calico - I saved it for last
mostly because I wasn't sure what to do with it.
And it required nothing at all but to add these
 My Mind's Eye
and Fancy Pants die cut embellies.
Got some layers going on at the top too.
And then shazam - a photo from the wayback box
that's perfect - my brother's daughter Lisa with her Memaw.
(Her dress is pink).
Seriously love how this turned out.
This is in 1981 and she's all grown up with kidlets
of her own now.
Sigh.

Scrapping on an 8x10 and a video

I have done this before because I really love
doing it when the photo rocks.
This cluster is the only embellishment going on
and I love how it turned out.
So either the sentiment or the #dreambig
can be the title.
Love this photo of Amelia overlooking the mountain
prior to taking off downhill on the slope.
It almost looks 3-D.
At 5 years old she's quite the snowboarder.
Below is a short video of her rockin' the slope.
Sissix diecut, moose punch, pink fresh,
studio calico washi.

ET Returned from the wayback box

LOL!!!
This was fun to do.
What's ET without the bike and moon.
Tucked my journaling into that little pocket.
Used a bit of the packaging technique.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong but most is covered up.
Yay!!!
This is a photo of my favorite eldest son meeting ET.
He looks amused.

So back in the 80's there was a radio station Q105
which had the ever popular Q-Zoo.
They decided to host an ET  party downtown
and I thought it would be a good idea
to stand in line with a 7 month old to have his photo
taken with ET.
(I think my pal Emily went with-not sure).
Anyway, we did have a great time- Nick was a
great baby that stayed awake for his photo op
and those are Scott Shannon's hands holding him up.

Studio Calico, envelop-paper studio & bike spare parts.

Sidetracked mission continued

If you read my previous blog (and I know you did)
whilst on missions in the wayback box
happening upon
randomness of goodness has a way of preempting
a mission.
A mission which I'm happy to say was completed.
Anyway substituting some basic grey
as I didn't have PL cards in the correct size
and using some up more BG stickers.
Anyway, random pix of my favorite youngest son
and I just noticed I don't have a "title card."
Gasp.

Getting those pix out of the box

It's funny when you're on a mission looking for
a needle in haystack basically in a huge box of photos
its soooooo easy to get sidetracked.

Well....as I was on my mission I found a bunch of photo
of mom - just posing.
Nothing special except that she's in the photo.

So I decided that it would make a cool pocket
page because of their randomness.
However, each of them had a story.
How cool is that.
They are original photos (I took digi copies)
some of which I was afraid to put stuff on them so
there are some bare spots.
Using up those Basic Grey sticker sheets.

Project life page front to back

photo 1-1
photo 2-1

It was a challenge to get these bad boys side by side.
But tis done.
Anyhoo, doing these photos front to back just worked
because of their size and orientation.
Again, Nick on another field trip with his
Kindergarten (?) guessing here because there are no dates.
Heavy sigh.
And no names.
Heavier sigh.
I do remember a couple of names though so that's good.
I also didn't journal because
memory is failing right now but I'll add something
after I ponder about this a bit,
if not, maybe Nick will write something later.

Lots of bits and pieces from really old Basic Grey sticker
sheets I've had laying around forever.

Those two front teeth

And why do both front teeth fall out at once?
It is adorable in the young especially knowing its temporary.
Soooo....
Because of the photo I decided to roll with whimsical
that I really don't do as often as I should
because for some reason in my little head I
felt that the embellishments had to support the story.
Why??
Because.
LOL.
Since I had nothing to roll with missing front teeth
I found some embellishments I really didn't know what to do with.
And do they work perfectly with Amelia's cheeky grin.

I pieced together those leftover papers from Studio Calico kit
that came together nicely after whacking 12x12
down to 8x8 pages.
Dug around in My Mind's Eye package and
found these fun embellies.

8.5x11 size.

Fussy cut and doodles.

Loved the "a" side of a paper from the
SC January kit.
I punched out the icons I wanted with a circle punch
and then went back and fussy cut the icon out
and popped them up for a bit of dimension
and doodled around them to cover up some "leaks"
from other icons.
Punched flowers with some homemade enamel dots.
I actually used recollections white cardstock with
the packaging technique and mounted it on some pretty
striped paper and stitched around.
Cut the branding strip into banners and fussy cut
a hand drawn hashtag. *gasp*
It really turned out fun!!!

Studio Calico!

A scrapbook lift

by Eyoung over at Studio Calico.
I love doing lifts especially when the mojo is low
but most importantly to learn a new style or do
something completely different than my style.
Eyoung does a lot of the white background
but I really loved this paper and didn't want to cut it
down or totally cover it up.
She also does lots of layers and embellishments
creatively placed.
I just loved the way it turned out with
my twist on it.
And the photo is holding its own.
Studio Calico, My Mind's Eye.
