A bit of heritage going on

I love heritage photos and I haven't been messing
with them as much mostly because I had
believed I had done them all.
Silly me.
I have always loved print paper, i.e., dictionary, newspaper, etc.
And this one has a purple tint.
How cool is that.
And nothing says heritage like lace, leaves and butterflies.
If you look in the upper right corner and lower left
I used some ranger mists I've had forever
and used the leaves as a stencil.
Gave the page a bit of an embrace doncha think?
Anyhoo, rooting around in the wayback box I found
this gem. My grandpop, with
his youngest sister and his daughter.
(Aunt Sue and mom-  were close growing up)

Mojo can be a fickle creature...

As I've always known.
It comes and it goes on its whim.
However, it did pop back around so maybe a
break is good every now and then.
Punches and dodads along with a bit of watercolors
is going on here.
Used up some strips of papers and a bit of washi tape.
And then I had to find a photo and then the great
debate or where it should go.
That took a couple of days, moving things here and there.
The doily was a way to ground this whacked up
photo I found in the wayback box.
And then of course a title.
Kept it low key and it pretty much covers
the journaling too.

Washington DC photos from the wayback box

And I love them in a pocket page.
Some of these pix were mom's and some were mine she
had acquired because she liked them.
It worked out well because now I can point them to
the Road Trip album - which house a lot
of pix - starting from beginning to end of the trip I took
with Shane and Memaw.
We had so much fun traveling the highways and by-ways
together and the memories rock.

I looked at that Road Trip album and omgee it was done 14 years ago
when I thought I was "da bomb" of scrapbooking
and "heavy sigh" the pages are sooooo "at a loss for words" LOL
but the journaling in that album - NAILED IT.

Using one of my favorite designs for 3 pictures

And its Throw back Thursday from the wayback box.
Love the gold stars and transparencies.
I always have trouble using small piece transparencies.
It's 3 photos in a horizontal line across the page
backed in a solid paper with colorful strips.
Old school.
The are adorable pix of my favorite eldest son playing with
an oversized Mickey Mouse ball with his memaw
in the "yard" behind my apartment.
I really love this pattern paper and its perfect for these photos.
Nick also didn't stop till he picked that big ball up.

All Studio Calico except for the die cut arrow and stars.

Layers and Ledger paper

I started THIS page with 2 photos.
It's been awhile since I used multiple photos and didn't
I have fits with this.
I went through at least 9419471347193471098 different
papers, including transparencies AND mats.
The photos are heritage - and originals and not
really good photos.
I probably in hindsight could've made them B&W
but where would the fun be in that.
So I ended up using kraft and beige because
seriously nothing went.
(I have no clue on the ledger paper - its THAT old)
Including black - black works on everything
except these 2 pictures.
LOL.
I made 2 big tags after tossing envelopes around
that looked stupid.
And more Tim Holtz that I just kept tossing on.
well because I couldn't stop really.
And I actually used Heidi Swapp Tea mist because seriously
what more can go wrong.
And the TITLE.
Good grief - that was serious overthinking going on.
I had a pack of kraft alphas with white letters
and it would've been perfect had it all the letters- but nooooo
not enough E's.
I know you're surprised.
So I got a small square punch - punched out and then
used my hero arts alpha and started
doing the letters in white which looked dumb
because the white wasn't white enough.
So I changed it up to black - and well its funky enough
to go with the page.

A flipping Heritage page - that I'm ON.
That's just wrong on many levels, but here we are.
So mom and I had similar outfits
and while I was cruising through the way-back
box there they were side-by-side.
I'm 20 years old there (I think) and mom would be 40.
We totally rocked the outfits.

The way-back box is magical.
Everyone should have one.

Love this pink washed paper

from Studio Calico - I saved it for last
mostly because I wasn't sure what to do with it.
And it required nothing at all but to add these
 My Mind's Eye
and Fancy Pants die cut embellies.
Got some layers going on at the top too.
And then shazam - a photo from the wayback box
that's perfect - my brother's daughter Lisa with her Memaw.
(Her dress is pink).
Seriously love how this turned out.
This is in 1981 and she's all grown up with kidlets
of her own now.
Sigh.

ET Returned from the wayback box

LOL!!!
This was fun to do.
What's ET without the bike and moon.
Tucked my journaling into that little pocket.
Used a bit of the packaging technique.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong but most is covered up.
Yay!!!
This is a photo of my favorite eldest son meeting ET.
He looks amused.

So back in the 80's there was a radio station Q105
which had the ever popular Q-Zoo.
They decided to host an ET  party downtown
and I thought it would be a good idea
to stand in line with a 7 month old to have his photo
taken with ET.
(I think my pal Emily went with-not sure).
Anyway, we did have a great time- Nick was a
great baby that stayed awake for his photo op
and those are Scott Shannon's hands holding him up.

Sidetracked mission continued

If you read my previous blog (and I know you did)
whilst on missions in the wayback box
happening upon
randomness of goodness has a way of preempting
a mission.
A mission which I'm happy to say was completed.
Anyway substituting some basic grey
as I didn't have PL cards in the correct size
and using some up more BG stickers.
Anyway, random pix of my favorite youngest son
and I just noticed I don't have a "title card."
Gasp.

Getting those pix out of the box

It's funny when you're on a mission looking for
a needle in haystack basically in a huge box of photos
its soooooo easy to get sidetracked.

Well....as I was on my mission I found a bunch of photo
of mom - just posing.
Nothing special except that she's in the photo.

So I decided that it would make a cool pocket
page because of their randomness.
However, each of them had a story.
How cool is that.
They are original photos (I took digi copies)
some of which I was afraid to put stuff on them so
there are some bare spots.
Using up those Basic Grey sticker sheets.

Photos from mom's wayback box

My wayback box is out of control so I decided
to plow through my mom's - it was
a mission for a photo of her and found a treasure
trove of photos of my kidlets as kidlets.
(And I didn't notice that stupid tag moved. Sigh
Says not a quitter under it).
Anyhoo, while I was plowing through the box I found a ton
of photos and these I decided to put together
as a "theme".
Nick on all of his rides throughout the years.
I thought that was pretty cool.

Of course the pix were all different sizes so putting
them on a mat was necessary.
I put a bit of journaling about his tenacity in learning
to ride, which didn't come easy.
That boy fell off the bike so many times I had to quit
watching because I wanted to make him stop.
But I had to let him persevere and sha-zam - he stopped falling.
Yay!! Go Nick.

Photos from back in the day

Would you believe as I plundered about in the wayback box
these 3 photos were tucked together.
How often do you come across a find like that.
It has happened to me twice.
And don't they just fit in that page I made without
a photo(s) in mind.
Gotta love it when a plan comes through.

So I've got my Sunday best going on.
(And in one photo I believe I have sneakers on)
Quite the fashion trend setter.
And I have my pixie hair do going on.
They called it a pixie to make me like it better.
It.didn't.work.
Those photos were taken from 1959, 60 and 61.
My style didn't change in 3 years.
