Around the camp at Long Key

Low tide at Sunset was really pretty.

And we had the iguana highway.
We had about 5-6 sashay through.
Of course, my camera for the first 5 was in the camper.
Therefore, only a couple ended up on my SD card.

And a great egret owned the road.
Great to be home again and now to get back on the
scrapbook bandwagon.
It was great to be sort of off the grid.
Read 3-4 books just relaxing.

Had a visitor sashay through camp

Caught this iguana coming out and of course my camera
was in the RV - I startled him in my effort
to grab it - but I managed to get him on his way back into the brush.

Of course I had to go look for him...
Scared the bejeesus out of me because he really
was out in the open and I'm looking under stuff LOL.
There he was watching me - looking for him.
He was quite the poser too.

Around our camp at Long Key State park

The infamous and most photographed tree on/in the water that we did
not camp by this time.

Some sponge that was washed up on shore.
Some friends dropped in and hung around.

These friends liked the water better.
 They grow wild everywhere.
 Sunset.

We had a lovely time.
Did some bike riding and relaxing.
Fresh fish and shrimp on the barbee.
It was a bit nippy at night - which meant we could keep
the windows open and lovely sunny days with a cool breeze.

And as mentioned before - unplugged.
All photos taken from the lounge chair in camp.
Doesn't get any better than that.

Long Key State Park Camping

Trees close to the campsite were attractive to birds and me alike.
Evidently there were lots of goodies there for them to eat.
I decided that it was all theirs.
I love how the lighting changed during the day.
These guys were total posers.
Cruising through the waters hunting for unsuspecting fish.
Or bugs.
And the little tree I couldn't help but take 93841349871049810 pictures of.
 Because it was cool.
And of course the prerequisite sunset photo.
That turned out lovely.
And more birds. Birds are cool. And freaky.
As we were breaking camp a photographer plodded through
the water with his tripod and camera
right up to the little tree I was so fascinated with
planted his tripod in the water in front of said little tree,
and commenced to taking pictures.
And he was there when we completed the dumping procedure
and showers,
still photographing the little tree.
Proving to my DH that I have an eye for these things.
like totally.

Scenes around Long Key State Park

This one is from our campsite - I finally found the courage to hop down
to the sandy beach. Its a bit of a drop
with a cement block for climbing back up.
And I baby my knees too much.
However it was worth the view.
I love the different colors of the water.

We hopped on our bikes and headed to the boardwalk.
In full disclosure it took awhile for the sun to
make an appearance and it was really windy. And a bit chilly.
Above is a tidal basin that grows a lot of things. And while the water looks "dirty" its really clean and clear - you are looking at the bottom. (See next photo).

There's all kinds of vegetation and also spiders. We declined the hour walk through the golden orb spider webs - among other things. I didn't see any birds at all - which were touted as hanging about there.
I seem to have that affect.

On our ride back to camp - this tree caught my eye because there were birds at it on the way to the boardwalk - Of course they weren't there now.

A very pretty line. My DH determined it was a line and not a rope. It's called a line if it comes from a boat. And there's your nautical trivia of the day :)
More than one angle on the tree and I love the sky. It was totally weird like that all day. Sun- no sun- pretty white clouds - grey clouds.

A gaggle of IBIS or flock maybe - I don't know if the gang word changes for seafaring birds.

And some little bird that may or may not be a sandpiper and is going into "grammy's book of can you find the critter in the picture."

Long Key State Park in January

For all my yankee friends.
Here's a bit o'sunshine and warm weather
for you to enjoy.

Tide is out and the water is such a pretty turquoise.

And palm trees against a blue sky.

And relaxing at sunset.
We managed to get the same campsite we had last time. No crabby bird though -
haven't seen any crabs to entice the bird.
Its a bit windy this a.m. with some clouds however its a balmy 70.

Camping at Long Key State Park

What a well kept secret this place is and because its a state park - not that expensive. And what a primo spot we had. The end of our camper is bumped up to the water.

I indulged in some hipstomatic fun. I like it better than instagram. And no wifi or TV. The phones still worked so there were a couple games of candy crush going on.Everything a camp needs - a table, a grill and some critter hiding in the bushes - and they also blocked us off from the other campers.
Love the privacy.

The path down to the water - and we arrived at sunset. There was a drop off to get to the water however, I didn't go there. There was a big rock at the bottom stealthily hidden by water and we all know how graceful I can be.

That is a raft/dinghy out there and it wasn't anchored that far off shore. We were able to relax and watch the hunter's moonrise. I didn't see anything eclipsing and took no photos because a. moons are tricky and I wanted to watch it and not behind a viewfinder.
We were totally busy watching the clouds roll by and picking out shapes; a couple of dogs, a dragon and a dolphin/whale.
It wasn't all relaxing and candy crushing -
we did bring our bikes this round and got a 2 mile ride in everyday.

This is also week 4 of my crossfitting adventure and I must say I'm totally addicted. I'm feeling the results and one day I can't wait to wake up and see the results. I feel great and I'm doing things I never thought I could or would do. Like running, lifting weights and squats. My knees are getting stronger everyday.

My goal is to squat down and get back up. I can do that now.

My new goal is to squat down and stay there for awhile. Practicing.

I even did the warmups while camping. Who knew.
