Mixed Media - Twelve and then some

This was a fun page to make, however, if you skim

down, I made it for the photo of my favorite, fearless eldest son

jumping out of a perfectly good airplane but the colors

didn't work. At. All.

However, this page of Owen turning 12 is perfect.

It turned out really fun.

Lots of TH - using the oxides sprays.

I'm still trying to get the hang of the sprays, etc.

stamps, but the embellishment side of it.

I still scrapbook it LOL.

However, it turned out using the packaging technique

and some stencils from Art-C and some

Tim Holtz tags and embellies.

The title was done with stamps I bought from M's

and even though I have the packaging - there's no name.

I also use some same stamps from the Art-C.

Thanks to my pal Holli who gifted me with this

TH die cut of flowers.

Love the colors!!!

Those butterflies are made of wax paper. I find

that if you layer in wax paper when die cutting

intricate dies - it helps pop them out easier and the

wax paper does make a cool embellie.

This was a premade page - using watercolors.

Had a lot of fun making these pages and as I said

I'm feeling my way. 

I also found these pages are sticking together so I'm

only doing one side with photos in this album as well.

In this album which is a mixed media watercolor album I gessoed

the pages and I think that is the sticky culprit.

Using most every stamp I own technique

(Again with my poor neglected blog).

It's one of my favorite techniques that I lifted

from KittyScrapper.

If you haven't checked out Nancy - go see. 

She's a lot of fun and love her style.

Anyway - I used Navy ink to kind of go with

the package technique in which I used some Heidi Swapp mists.

ALL fun to do.

I actually did this page with other photos in mind

and it didn't quite work out because

of the way I did the all the stamping.

Shocking I know.

However, this photo actually fit perfectly so all is well.

I used a variety of Studio Calico stamps and a rolling stamp

that has fun sayings on it.

I also used that "stupid" arrow stamp that gives me fits

I mixed some mist with some molding paste.

I liked it so well I stamped all over it.

LOL.

I really quite like the mixed media going on here.

As you will see I seem to be on a roll with this week.

Little bit of background play with an onion bag, ink and stamps

I've been playing around a lot lately and its been a lot of fun

in spurring the creativity.

As you can see I broke out the ole onion bag

and commenced to pounce ink around.

Love the different look it brings to the polka dot paper.

Broke out a flash from the past - a Creative Cafe stamp

and commenced to stamping around the page.

 I apologize for the blurry-ness as it looked okay on

the camera screen.

 Its hard to double check photos when you're in the zone, however, you get the drift
of fun inkiness spread around the page.

While I was in a stamping mode I continued on with some rectangles and circles.

I also splattered mist about because seriously there really wasn't 

enough going on. :)

 And then began the layer process around the photo.

And I swear in real life that color green on the pinwheel is more BLUEgreen

than green in real life.

 Still have trouble stamping with the Shimelle stamp

and honestly I worked in the school library - I really should know how it goes.

 I adore this cluster with its ridiculous cuteness of layering.

 And the finished product.

I still swear it's not as green. Really.

And you just have to wonder what's going on in the mind of a 3 year old.
Actually its probably better not knowing. LOL.

Scrapping those Christmas Cards

once again, Ali E style.

I have been doing this for a number of years and if you click

on this post you can view some previous years' pages.

I picked out some Kaiser Kraft Christmas papers which were

busy busy - and decided to make a pocket page with the busy paper.

In looking back at the previous ones - I know having a pocket page will shock you.

 To the left are the pile of lovely cards we recieved and below are the punched out and/or fussy cut cards

that will be used on my page.

I used round and square punches and in some cases

just pulled pop up embellishments off the cards.

I also kept the photo cards intact.

Its great to see how people/kids have changed and grown.

 After I whacked everything up the placement drove me nuts.

Short drive I know but crazy all the same. 

I therefore decided to clump/nest them all together in a vingette type of cluster.

 And it totally worked.

I love how the clusters turned out.

And I felt like they kind of told a story.

 It ended up looking graphic on the page as

I tried to arrange them in a way that when the remaining cards

are tucked in - you could still see some of  the clusters.

I inked all the cutout/punched photos to make them pop and more cohesive.

 I decided that because of the busy-ness of all the clusters

and the fact that they are gorgeous on their own

no other embellishments were required.

I just realized that I didn't add the year in there.

I will place it discretely somewhere.

 Love how this one turned out.

A lovely way to keep all the cards and in a guilt free way

to trash the rest. As I remove the parts I don't like
I try to be on the lookout to save their handwriting or if they
added something personal or pertinent.

but several forks in her grubby lil mitt. 

A girl has to be prepared.

You never know when a snack is going to come your way.

AFTER, I put the page together with my

new Studio Calico kit papers, wood alphas and astricks, I remembered

that this is a Christmas photo.

You can't see Owen but they are both 

napping in their new sleeping bags.

How fun is that!

Well okay then, no harm no foul, because I won't be

blabbing and I'm sure you can keep this on the down-low.

I used my favorite flower punch and I had the

pink circle and tag. I used my

favorite heart punch for the heart papers (of which the strip is gone)

so your guess is as good as mine.

Therefore, moving right along - I forgot to mention the

cool new stamps from the kit that have been stamped on the photo. 

In white ink.

Am I out of control or what.
I believe I have left enough room for journaling.

BTW - how do you like the new look? It needed to be refreshed because

I have had it the same way forever.

I added my first name to the title and wa-la it pops up in search

as a second choice. 

Some lawyer with my name is first.

dammit :)
