Music is love in search of a word....

Sidionie Gabrielle.
This is April's great grandmother.
We often switch photos and as you know, I adore
heritage. And it seems that her great gram
played guitar and sang.

This picture has been calling my name for a long time.
And it needed to be special.
(I shall let the journaling to Mz April)
That is Sandylion paper, unknown paper (really nothing on them)
primas with little music notes *swoon* and butterfly,
QK label, 7 G's turns, paper studio clock and M's bling.

Pool Rehab

I came home and to my surprise, the pool guys
started without me. LOL!!!
Our pool lasted 17 years before it became ugly.
So at 7 a.m. without warning, I work up to a
radio blasting and voices chit-chating.
Subtle.

  Let the filling begin.
It came from the well. Which gave us swamp water.
Something to be said for chemicals.
Felt good yesterday when the thermometer hit 95!
Yeah and SOME peeps say its too hot in Florida.
News flash -
Texas is in day 23 of triple digits.
Just sayin....

Baby book.......

I made this book for a friend and hopefully
it'll be delivered today so she can get it
in the mail.
The room color is lilac which I love, however,
not a lot of baby paper comes in lilac.
I also liked having a gender
and making it all girly!

So I faked it. This is the first time I painted
the chipboard, and I'm wondering why
I didn't think of that before.
*head slap*

USA!!!!

This LO was a complete accident!
While cyber scrappin' with my pal April (who has some really cool lo's going on) and DIGGING DEEP into the neverending box of goodies sent by my pal, I decided to check out the Ink-a-doo spray inks and pulled out some beige cardstock (its Bazzill and probably has a fancy name but its beige, ecru, light tan) LOL!!! The inks were lilac and royal blue. After spraying them, not only on the cardstock, but covering the entire work area, I decided that I needed to add the Ranger-red pepper for a splash of color.  Voila! Americana!!! So I stared at it for an hour or three, resulting in a semi-stupor before grabbing the dainty TINY flowers in which I can't identify (if you can, let me know-they are OLD stash). Then I dithered about the photo, knew I had some eagle pictures somewhere. Eagles have attitude. I love that! And that QK USA cookie cutter die has been in my stash for awhile - it was a set which name, now escapes me. Imagine that!  The edging is a red sharpie. Sharpies smell mmmmm- I didn't inhale.

It's challenge time

at Moments AND MINE is the heritage challenge!
 Shocking I know.
So this month's challenge is to use an "old photo"
with new/NON heritage papers!
Just a little different twist - especially for those of
you (and I'm not saying chicken here) who
are reluctant to scrap those old photos.
Chicken! lol!
They are important in your life story, as you couldn't tell
your story without first telling theirs.

Flowers around Ocean Beach

Everyone has these adorable little houses, and they decorate them with the colorful blooms of nature.

More baby photos!!! Shocking I know......

 Big Brother Owen. Precious.
Stretch and Grow!!!!Hiya!!! Kung Fu Annie!

Weigh in - which is probably the only time in a female's life it's okay!
Looks like she's faking it and trying to weigh less by
wriggling and being naked. Hmm....I need to try that on my
next weigh in. Won't WW love that!!
LMAO..........

Announcing a new Granddaughter....

Annie Rose Duffy
7lb 6 oz 20 3/4 inches
July 6, 2011
Beautiful!
Can't wait to meet her!

In closing

I finally got April's journaling challenge done over at Moments!!! The Challenge was to Journal a Message. I had to ponder this a bit and decided to go back in time when snail mail was the only way to correspond. Because I was a bit chatty on this one (insert eyeroll) I put together a hybrid. Kraft paper which I love and a pop of color for my boy. QK Journaling (which I love and have been overusing lately (but can you really overuse something that cool.)

Journaling: I was 15 when my parents moved us to Florida and I was NOT a happy
camper. I was also incredibly homesick. I missed my friends, I missed my
home, I missed my grandparents.
Letters between my gram and I flew back and forth daily.
When she closed her letters she would sign off with
Be Good
Be Sweet
Be Mine
Which evolved into the 3 B’s for short. And it went it in both directions.
I also used the 3B’s in closing when I wrote to Nick those times he stayed with his dad.
UNTIL
Nick enlisted. And served in Kosovo and Iraq. (He’s currently doing his
third tour now). I began a new closing on the same premise. The 3 S’s.
Stay Safe
Shoot to Kill
Show No Mercy
He was/is in harm’s way, and while I knew the 3 B’s were a given, I wanted
to make sure he had a mantra in his head to keep his bad self safe and to
come home in one piece.
                                                                                                                    So, in closing,
                                                                                                                           3 S’s
                                                                                                                     Love, Mom

I know you have been impatiently waiting....

for the unveiling of our expanded lanai.
Lanai is Florida's fancy word for patio.
Ours has doubled in size.
This shot was taken from the sliding glass doors.
(Pool is to the left)
The "living" room furniture is now
where the table and chairs used to be, and
table and chairs were relocated to the expanded space.
We have sooooooooooo much room and comfy space to sit and chit chat.!!!
I love that the table is further out in the space, no more
tripping over people and being crammed into a small space.
Totally worth the wait!!!

Tag you're IT!!!

We play a game at Moments called layout tag.
If you remember the old game show from "oldies" TV; it's
played like that. In the game, some whispers a phrase into the first
players ear, and they then whisper it on down the line.
Well layout tag is the same theory.
A layout is chosen by the hostess Janelle, and the first player
"lifts" all or part; that layout is then passed down the
line and so on. It's a lot of fun and it's all secret - you only see
the layout from the person before you.
There are quite a few twists and turns when its all said and done.
This is my version of the layout I received. And I love the results.
This is my Great Uncle Augie and his nephew Frankie.
In both photos. (Someone on the back of the photo to the right
thought it was a dog, but in looking closer its Frankie).
Sadly, Frankie died when he was 12, so this especially poignant.
If you want to see the succession of "tags" pop on into
June Reveal and check it out!! We have July Tag
coming UP! Jump on in and join us!!!
