The beginnings of Vol 2 of my Travelogue Album

Fortunately I purchased a couple of these albums ahead of time
and it paid off as noted in this post.
This is a 6x8 chipboard album that I get at Hobby Lobby.
HL is reducing their scrapbook products sadly and
I'm hoping they continue these.
It comes with page protectors and of course extras
that can be purchased.
I do gesso the entire album prior to slapping paint on.
So I happen to be a fan of Susanne Rose Arts and she
does alot of journals, artist cards, mixed media, stamping, etc.
So I looked up acrylic paints and she
does some really cool things finger painting it on.

So I did.
I used every paint color I had.
🤣

And I love the results.

Well now, it needed something BIG and COLORFUL.
Thankfully, I didn't give up some of the 4x4 Quickutz dies
because I was going SMALL.
Anyway I'm glad I kept this flower and swirling thing.

I also did some stamping on the background and sploshed it
with white flecks using the toothbrush method.
I love the look but it is quite messy because it goes EVERYWHERE.

I also decided on the front cover to use go with two flowers
I did each flower a different way - one I used
the die cut remains as a "stencil" which went well
BUT
I am not the best painter and it was hard to stay in the stencil,
so I decided to trace the cut out and still
had the same problem staying in the lines.
I decided not to put a flower on the back, but just use some
reandom stamping.
I really LOVE the '70's psychedelic vibe.

I also made an opening page - using the tag
to journal that this is part 2.
I really wanted Oregon to complete the first album,
but it would make it too bulky so
now its Oregon part 2.

Simple Stories Color Me Happy baby album

is finally completed. Yay!! Since the parents decided to not know the sex of the baby - it basically rules out the traditional colors. Not that I'm bound by that anyway. There was also the tried and true albums I've always done and you can check one out here or here. And I decided I wanted something different.

So I sashayed on down to Hobby Lobby to check out their papers. And they had blue and pink lines but no in between in 12x12. I then checked out their paper packets and stumbled across Simple Stories Color Me Happy 8x8 pack. 6x6 would be ideal but because it had primary colors and really cool cut aparts I decided 8x8 was good.

Therefore, another decision was required.
8x8 or 6x6.
6x6 won - because its easy to store, not overwhelming and very cute and adorable. I also remembered I needed some less weighted chipboard for the pages - I have heavy weighted for the covers.

It was fun, I picked out some fun colors in the paint that matched the papers and painted the pages in almost every one of the colors. Every other one. I even painted additional chipboard to use as embellishments.

The hearts and doily are the red painted chipboard punched embellies
and have yellow paint on the backside so you can go either way.(The white doilies are Martha Stewarts. The papers are super cute and the colors work really well.

I left a lot of space for journaling and a pocket for goodies.

The photo size mats are iffy but I explain to just put the photo on don't worry if its not perfect or just use that for journaling or for other goodies, i.e. bracelets, lock of hair, etc. as well.

I'm extremely pleased how adorable it turned out and I like that its not "traditional" or my "tried and true".

Sometimes change is good and lots of fun.
I have a blanket I crocheted as well that will go with the album.
And the don't necessarily match.
I'm becoming quite the rebel.
