The beginning of the Mississippi Delta Blues Tour

We left yesterday headed first toward Tallahassee but ultimately
our goal was Biloxi, MS.
It was decided to drive straight through and I must say
it was a looonnggg drive.
Especially when it gets dark at 5 p.m.
That was weird.
We didn't get rolling bright and early- at least I didn't -
all that driving you know, LOL,
but we hit the gulf coast road and of course, the obligatory
photo of the lighthouse that is now
right in the middle of the road.
McElroy's Harbor House was picked for breakfast
and this was the view.
While swooning over the breakfast of shrimp and grits;
here comes a shrimp boat steaming up the harbor.
And than to make a girl even more giddy there's an
entire marina of shrimpers.
While strolling around I found this guy doing circles out in the harbor
so I wandered on out to check things out.
After catching this and still not getting the circle mystery
I hear "help" - turning and hoping its
not a drowning or medical emergency because I handle
neither well,  there was this poor fisherman
that did a really good job tangling his lines up
(that I could handle).
(looked like he had an out of control ball of yarn LOL).
If you don't know, I LOVE tangles, I love trying to get them untangled
and crazily enough I have the patience to do it.
I have to admit it took us a few minutes working out the
details but we succeeded and
I left a happy fisherman that didn't have to cut
his lines, nor did he lose his fish.
I dont' know about him,
but I had a good time.
Cruising up and down the gulf coast road, being a tourist,
right out the car window, is this dolphin coming out of the ground.
How cool is that.
Another light feature out on the water that we believe was a path
to safe harbor when the weather was foul.
And a palm tree eating shark.
No need for details there.
Does life get any better?
Why yes, yes it does, because tonight
because we'll be eating more seafood and then
heading to the Temps & Tops concert.
Yum.

Scenes from the Dauphin Island Ferry

This is our second ferry ride.
We adore ferries.
And this was on a lovely day.
Love pelicans - too bad about window glare :|
I paid for this pose.
This was our swan song with our soon to former RV.
We had great trips in it, but now we're looking for a bit more room.
The lovely part was being able to make a sandwich on the ride
and devour it.
 And oil rigs are everywhere.
They are very cool.
I happened to be on the right side of the boat to get this.
Or should I say starboard.
Fort Gains - was so very cool.
And don't the cannons rock?
Especially from the ferry boat - which was way smaller
than we have normally been on.
And a muddy river, blue skies and white clouds.
The skies change like the wind.
Drives me crazy - with the settings.
I have a book to write these things down in.
Did I do that??
NOOOO.....which I know surprises you.

So far the scrappy part has been non-existent.
It has been a wild ride from Florida to Texas and picking up the new one.
Mostly we've been traveling wildly from KOA to KOA
to get to the dealship on time.
Nothing is easy in dealing with a dealership.
It took all day to get things done and get on the road.
And internet is spotty at most places.
Therefore, we set up camp, eat and by then its bed time.

On the intinery for tomorrow - heading up to BB Kings museum
and then hit the Delta Blues museum.
I'm not sure if its going to be the same day.
Its FUN.

On the way home we took a slight detour...

We happened to be going by the Battleship Memorial Park.
Right off Rte 10E
In Alabama.
And for $2 you get lots of old military things.
There were memorials for the Korean and Viet Nam wars.
And the USS Alabama that you can tour.
We respectfully declined because it would've taken hours.
My knees weren't up to it.
And I/we really wanted to get home.
This B52 has quite the wingspan and had to breakout my
new wide angle attachable lens.
It works awesome.
One last shot of the battleship as we crossed the bridge.
We made it home safe and sound.
And its great to be here.

tearing up the backroads

Along the Gulf Coast roads we got our first glimpse of
Mobile AL skyline.
For some reason blogger does these photos out of order and
then makes it totally annoying to rearrange them.
So Biloxi and you know I love my shrimpers.
And how pretty are these.
Also cruising down the highway - there were 3 lighthouses.
This was the best drive by shot.
Beautiful dock and park in Fair Hope AL.
There are also bird condos in the water.
Very fun!

Will be roaming about New Orleans today and hopefully do some
different things this time around.
