Challenge #3 - Brooke & Lynn rocks it-totally

Having a BLAST!!!!
We both love how our challenge turned out.
This was the sketch for Brooke

8"circle as background
cardstock
design your own pattern paper
watercolors
something handmade

She totally nailed it and
I LOVE THE TITLE.
Awesome play on words involving her hubby.

and in her words.....
So, it's on 9x12 watercolor paper. Background done with oxides and shimmer mists, with various stencils, bubble wrap. Strips under pic also done on watercolor paper. One is embossed with scales them misted with shimmer mist. Other one is done with handmade "wave" border with oxides. Oxide colors used are speckled egg, broken China, pumice stone, black soot and blueprint sketch. Shimmer mists are patina, sea glass, honeydew mist and walnut shine. Even added some magic mesh!

Brooke's challenge for me:
Nuvo glimmer spray
heat emboss title
envelope
6 different color cardstock
3 washi tape

WELL.....I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!
It was so much fun.
So I did use 6 different cardstock colors for
both the flowers and the banners
with the flowers tucked nicely in the envelop.
The nuvo spray color I have does not match the
cardstock colors so I sprayed it on
a tag and tucked it into the envelope.
3 different washi is stacked on each other
and the heat embossed title.
Well...I used a puffy title and had some shabby chic
embossing powder and it worked
great until I got a little too close to the J and
it started to melt the actual J.
Ooops.
It works.

We are currently thinking of tossing another challenge
SO STAY TUNED...

My new 6x8 Chipboard album

I decided that after doing Traveler's Notebooks
in a homemade chipboard album
using rings I wanted to do something a bit different.
I LOVE them don't get me wrong but I have concerns.
There are no page protectors and because
it's on rings I was also concerned about storage.
Tossing them in a box and hoping for the best without proection
SOOOOO
hunting around there are 6x8 albums
(I know where have I been)
with page protectors.
So I found an album and it's chipboard which means
DECORATING.
So technically this is still a Traveler's Notebook.
So I gessoed the album which kind of gave me choices,
inks, oxides and alcohol, oh my.
In addition to paint.
Therefore, I found a tag I liked that had these colors
on it and I really really really liked it.
Of course it's not EXACTLY the same but I
love how it came out all the same.
Inside.

I used Rustic Wilderness-ink and Blue Lagoon and
Pickled Raspberry Oxides.

Then I dithered about the rest of it and decided on
these awesome stamps that I used before
on an album.
Why yes, yes I'm a copy cat. LOL.

I used this stencil on the inside of the book along with some stamps.
Love how it turned out.
And the rest of the stamps.
I just love this and yeah it's been done a bazillion times.
But I love it.

Oh and the page protectors are on the project life size.
Pockets.
So that'll be fun to do on this trip which is called
Over the COVID Tour
😂

Traveler's Notebook - Tags and Pages

Love the filler card - that is a stamp
on vellum using TH crayons.
I love coloring.
The next page Brooke and I met up at the s/b
shop before I left and bonus- sale!
The cup and spill the beans is a new stamp
I bought that I have been eyeing forEVER.
It's all about coffee.
You'll be seeing it a lot.

An eagle landed in our lake.
Like out our backyard.
It was soooo cool.
And you can't have an eagle page w/o flag,
red white and blue and star stencil background.

Holli and I had one last play date before I left,
and behind us is a sneak peek of PART of her stamp collection.
It's so much fun playing.
The coffee pot stamp belongs to Holli and before
I hit the road I stamp a few of them to
have on hand because
A. they're so much fun to color
B. love it
C. see above
LOL.
It's actually the journaling for the next page
which as you know if you've been following my blog
(which I hope you do)
is the challenge page from my pal Brooke.
You can read about it here.
I love the page and it was so much fun to do.

This album is getting kind of thick so I need to
be pondering on creating another one.

Traveler's Notebook - More tags and envelopes

As you know by now, I love tags and cards,
but I also love envelops.
I have some neat ones, big enough for a photo
or filler stuff.
The first tag came from Treasured Memories S/B store
and they had a "shop hop".
Sadly, they were the only shop and that just
had to be in my TN.

The yellow envelope has the journaling for the
shop hop as I was able to meet up
with my pals Holli and Brooke and had the
best time spending each other's money.

I drew that flower freehand.
Yes, I know...but it is a big deal for me because
I never thought I could draw and as long
as it doesn't have to be perfect,
I'm golden.
On the other page, we dined out at our favorite
steakhouse in town.
Prime.
We always have a great time with our
friends Wayne and Dara
(and don't they always take a great photo-
which is very annoying to us that don't)

And the rodeo.
So.much.fun.
And Lee Greenwood showed up out of the blue
and sang God Bless the USA.
This is our second year and it was a lot of fun.
Those riders are such athletes.
I kept the ticket and basically used it as a title
with some road signs.

I remembered to take pictures again and I
snapped this enthusiastic look of our friends
having pizza with us.
Dispite the look we did actually have a great time.
How about that "guest check" is that
a hoot or what.
No clue where it came from.
Sigh.
Actually, the photo is on a tag - not a page
because it really did need a page.

Tim Holtz
No idea on the road signs.
(I even got up to look)

Road Trip around Arizona - Queen's Mine, The Wall, Chiricahua Monument

The Queens Mine in Brisbee was opened in 1877 and closed
somewhere in the 1970's was one of the richest
copper mines in history.
They have underground tours with flashlights and helmets.
We didn't do that.
We were in Douglas and decided to cruise
by the wall and in appeared on this side to all be in order.
Lots of patrols going on.

Then the ride to Chiricahua National Monument was really pretty
and the park itself was amazing.

The layers of mountains were so pretty and the skies gorgeous
however, it was extremely windy.

There were no spots when there wasn't something beautiful
in nature that captured your attention.

There were rocks everywhere and some were
very cool looking.

Captured this, as far as I know, a Mexican Jay.
Quite the poser.

Another challenge in da bag!!! with my pal Brooke

I have to admit that I am really really REALLY enjoying
these challenges - totally out of my comfort zone.
Both ways for sure.

BROOKE'S CHALLENGE TO ME:
this sketch
stamp title
ribbon
3 pp
glitter

I really love the sketch and again, took it right down the middle.
There are 3 PP in there Tim Holtz papers and for
my critter a TH die.
A bunny.
I must've bought at least 5 bunnies this year.
As for the glitter well I decided to keep it really low key.
😂
I had to use an animal and this was just too much fun.
And it was a new never used die.
Quirky.
The photo is a drive by of a ghost town on I-10.
Love how it turned out and I'm okay
with someone in the future wondering why there's
a rabbit with a glitter carrot.

MY CHALLENGE TO BROOKE:
This sketch (which I LOVE)
journaling strips
frames
5 pp
nuvo shimmer powder

AND IN HER OWN WORDS:
Authentique "Summer" papers. Nuvo powders through stencil in blue blitz and solar flare. MM, 7 Gypsies Authentique and TH stickers. Sizzix, and other various dies.

Framed the journaling strips AND used the frame from cutting out the tags on the corner of the pic 😁

I ADORE her page.
I ADORE my page.
These pages are so different yet ours.

Got another one lined up.
Stay tuned.

Traveler's Notebook - Adding tags and cards

I have been making tags like a maniac and
found I LOVE making tags.
Seriously, love building a "scene".
Then, what to do with them is the $64 question of the day
,so I have been doing filler pages,
 because why not.
It's my book.
Also, I have been totally slacking in the picture taking
department.

I created a "page" on the backside of the card because
who really needs to read it's from Hallmark.
I went into great depth about being 67.
Not.
We have also been going to a local grove
where they make the best homemae
creamsycles or dreamsycles.
Sooooo good.
It's a great special treat.

We did take a ride through Babcock - Webb a great
wildlife management area that can
always toss out a critter or two.
They were quite friendly on this ride.
There is a blog post all about it here.

I made that window at my pal Holli's on one
of our playdates.
And love those birds.
Swoon.
Again, we were at the fishery with my
favorite sister-in-law and her hubby.
The food and ambiance was excellent as always.

Sissix die cuts.
Dina Whakely stamps
Tim Holtz
Quickutz dies,
Stencils
Studio Calico

Traveler's Notebook - a couple of entries

I have been working in my TN making some fun pages,
I have been slacking in getting them on the blog.
However, I have some right here.
Our favorite eatery is the Fishery - if you live
in Florida near Bradenton (it's in Cortez) you really need
to go.
Best seafood with a view ever.
Hanging out with our gang at the Boca Lupo
best pizza in town.
We had a great time and it was good seeing
all them at once we settled in.

Hubby and I dined at Carrabba's another favorite
and of course, no photo, but I did get
in the habit of picking up business cards, menus and
keeping those envelops they put the cutlery in.
Fun stuff for scrapbooks.
So it was during this time, my macpro of 8 years was
getting quite cranky so I was fortunate
enough to be able to replace it.

Tucked my journaling in a pocket behind that PL card.
I love doing that.
Of course Apple decals.
Gotta do something with them.

And wa-la my lovely new computer.
It's amazing, however, none of the slots are the same.
Surprise!

I use a lot of die cuts - sissix and quikutz.
The apples are from Illustraited Faith,
Tim Holtz of course.
Studio Calico.

A challenge among friends!!! Oh what FUN!!

So my pal Brooke and I did a thing.
We challenged each other.
Goodbye comfort zones.

Here we go.
The challenge was to provide a sketch -
and 5 things to incorporate in
said sketch.

My challenge to Brooke.
I love this sketch I found on Page Maps.
No sense in drawing when you can get one from the best.
Her 5 things:
Mixed Media background
Work in the tag I gave her.
Thread or Twine.
Fussy cut something
Use her new TH alphas - the skinny ones that I love.

AND WA-LA!!!
Brooke totally rocked it!!!
Using stencils and inks in her background.
I LOVE how she did the title.
She rocked my tag - changed it up a bit and love it.
And fussy cut the butterflies.
Twine behind the tag.
She did work in 8x8 page.

A beautiful photo of her mom rounds it out.
Love love love how it turned out.
And we're so gonna do it again.
I need to get to pondering.
Again.

My challenge from Brooke went down like this.

A sketch she found on pinterest.
3 arrows
(I struggle with arrows)
Nuvo drops
3 pattern papers
staples
paint

I work in 8.5x5 in my traveler's notebook so I took
it right down the middle.
I managed to work in 4 arrows - using pattern paper
and my arrows were PP but the anchors didn't come through LOL
however the tiny flowers are heart PP.
I did use 2 photos because I didn't want to
waste - I used 2 different sizes which worked out great
because it highlighted the 'rentz.
I used a doily as the "round" thing
The nuvo drops are in the flowers I drew and
on the tag.
The paint is on the homemade washi tape because
I really couldn't think of another way to
work it in.
So I made my own washi tape using Studio Calico
blush crush and arrow stamps with
versifine black ink.
Splattered some watered down paint.
I love how BOTH turned out.
It was sooooo much fun we're gonna do it again.
I'll keep you posted.
