Tearing up Utah highways 91-15

At a Love's truck stop because where else

does a trucker go.

Hanging out with the big rigs.

 It was sooooo good seeing Shane and meeting his teammate.

We had a great time laughing and goofing around.

 I was able to see his truck up close and personal and

wow! I can't imagine handling something of that size.

 Scenes from after we parted ways.......

and headed toward Idaho.

Beautiful scenes everywhere you look

and they do take your breath away.

Dinosaur National Monument

Absolutely amazing - 

this little fella is the greeter...

There's a shuttle that takes you to this building

which happens to be built around the dig site that 

housed the fossils/bones.

It's 2 stories and these amazing bones are on a wall

that goes from floor to ceiling.

You start on the 2nd floor... 

 Down the first floor that have this completed Allosaurus.

They actually pulled at 25 completed dinosaurs 

and loaned them out to different museums.

 This guy lost a couple of pieces.

 And here's and old fossil touching and old fossil.

 Scenery is beautiful.

 That old fossil keeps showing up in my photos.

 As you travel through the park they have key

points... and this was the wall art

found at the same time the dig was going on.

 The above one is the only one I could possible ID that

its like a sunburst type thing.

This is elephant toes rock...

Its neat but tricky to get because its off the road

that I took from the window because

with all the shrubs around I wouldn't have got it.

 Turtle rock.

There are RV and tent sites along

this river that would've been amazing to camp in.

However, we're still having fridge problems. 😑😑😑😑

Hopefully they'll be solved soon.

We're hoping to catch up with Shane tomorrow.

Finally saw some critters

At first I thought this was a chipmunk but its actually

a prairie dog. And how adorable is he.

As we were packing up camp he started hanging out

at the fence to watch all the action.

 Rolling hills...

 Still rolling through Colorado...

 A herd of prong horned deer.

I have this as my screen saver and that will

change as we go.

I've already changed it twice. 

LOL....

Rocky Mountain High

It was high and nippy.

A welcome change from the 101 that

was happening in Kansas the past few days.

 A mine.

 A mine where you can see your fortune.

 God bless whoever put the flag up there.

 Every twist and turn and there were plenty

with death defying drop offs.

 

Love the clouds over the mountain.

Amber waves and Oil wells

In the prairies of Kansas..

the amber waves of grain go for miles and miles and miles.

 And if there's an oil drill in there...

well there's multi-tasking on the prairie.

 Cows getting some shade because it was 101 today.

It was HOT!

A blurry picture of goats not caring about how hot it is.

We stopped at another lovely site in Atwood, KS run by

the Lions Club and the proceeds go to their charity.

Very cool.

Two different horse drawn wagons

In one day.

What are the odds.

This barn.....

 Amish in their horse and buggy and there

are two little boys in there which you can't see in this picture

because the picture you can see them in

didn't turn out well.

They came right by where we were parked but I 

really didn't want to be obvious.

SIGH.

Next time I'm totally going for obvious.

 Rolling on through Missouri headed to Kansas.

 And the second horse drawn wagon was a covered

wagon coming right down the highway

toward us.

I was totally obvious this time.

How cool is that.

 These store front windows are in Iola Kansas

Rolling down highway 54.

We are currently in El Dorado State Park and Tom

thinks he fixed the fridge problem.
UPDATE: we still have a fridge problem.

Its a beautiful park - that took about an hour to get a site.

It appears campground hosts assign sites without

informing the front desk.
Whoops!!!
