Labor Day Outtakes & the Build up to "the photo"

LOL.
I did have the presence of mind to check things out
BEFORE heading to the party.
Shocking I know,
but I hardly use my remote and if
you'll remember from past posts I had a
really hard time finding the remote let alone
figuring stuff out.
THEREFORE,
found remote - check.
read the directions - check.
gave said directions to Tom for interpretation - check.
Tom figured out the settings - check.
tried to use remote - check.
a new battery was needed and shockingly Tom had one.
Check.
I'm good with the tripod - check.
Then it became a timing issue because of the light.
Then there was the issue of how far did my remote go.
So Cami and her pal Isabella helped me out.
Well then mostly Cami.
So here is the series of "how far does that remote go."
Cami looks amused.

 I'm having a good time.
Because of the light or lack thereof as well as skills
I decided to break  tradition with the photo at the fence to
photo on the steps.
Then there was another remote check.
Gathering peeps celebrating was like herding squirrels.
Getting everyone to pay attention was like herding squirrels.
Trying to be subtle about using the remote.
Gave up subtle because everyone was getting impatient.
and shazam- there's all the squirrels paying attention.
Of course the kids were nowhere to be found for this photo
and when the kids finally appeared the crowd had long dispersed
and had zero interest in lining up again
SOOOOOO.....
SO kid photos were done separate.
And then there's always that one.
Zachery (the one in the middle)
 late to the party.

All in all a good time was had by all.

Labor Day in NJ

The weather was really ugly so we ducked under
Pat's beachhouse and just hung out.
The food was delish and the company terrific.

Grandpop and Annie..
 The Duffy fam with grandpop.
And of course bunny ears. Dad beat Owen to it.
LOL!!!

 Alan and June.
 Cami - 15 and a sophomore.
Where did the time go.... sheesh.
Me sporting the wind blown look with Cami.
 Annie and Goldie.
Lucas whose growing way too fast.
 Maureen and Herb.
Desert time and if you've never had cannolli dip and
chips - you have got to try it.
Sooooo yummy!
 Annie chilling for a bit.
 And the requisite selfies....
 with Annie and Owen.
I need to work on my framing.
Sheeesh.
Eventually we all moved into the beachhouse
to warm up because it became
really cold and damp so
the family photo by the fence did not
happen this year.
Total Bummer.

OB-3

Ocean Beach 3 - New Jersey.

Down at the shore.
And this time I'm in the photo.

Woo hoo.

Or not.

I never like myself in pix however, ducking behind a cute grandkid is always a winning pose. I was really pleased despite my non-love of being in a picture to be in a picture with the grands as well as Tom. I'm also glad to document this story because hanging out down at the shore has become important for us to do. Because of work, distance and life's busy-ness its hard to connect on a daily basis, so traveling up on a semi-regular basis allows us to a "routine" with family members.

So here we are in front of Kathy and Allen's little beach house that has to be gutted, raised and re-done thanks to superstorm Sandy which devastated the area. For the past several years, we have headed to OB-3 to celebrate Labor Day with the Murphy's. You can't ever go wrong celebrating anything with the Murphy's or hanging at the shore. It was a fun time to get together and see everyone.

Which means this year is going to be different. No hanging at the shore because 2 out of the 3 family-owned beach houses are still being fixed as well as other rental beach houses that didn't fair well through the storm and that means we need a Plan B.

Working on it.

Most of the stuffs used on the page is Studio Calico from last month and this month. Its sort of the same design as the Take That! page. I can live with that. I also like that I didn't use beachy themed paper but it still has a feeling of that casual-ness.

SO the Double Dawg Dare is to make a page with photos that have a theme without using themed papes and embellies.

Glad I could clear all that up.
