DODGE CITY
Everyone knows Dodge City from the TV Gunsmoke.
Grandpop never missed an episode and when we spent the
weekend there we got to stay up late and watch it.
The town was known for it's outlaws, gunslingers and saloons.
We all remember Miss Kitty.
The depot was quite the happening place bringing all
kinds of people to Dodge City.
This is the originalAtchison, Topeka, Sante Fe engine donated
to the museum and sadly, went by the wayside by
the 19th century.
Doc Holiday whose real name was John Henry.
Who knew?
He is near the Longbranch Saloon playing a game of cards.
You can actually sit with him and take a picture
however, I wouldn't recommend it in the summer time.
He is HOT.
Wyatt Earp, a lawman, gambler, all around frontier man
traveling thoughout the west settled as an Assistant City Marshall
in Dodge City.
He's actually posed on the corner waiting to cross the street.
Below is Marshall Dillion - played by James Arness
in Gunsmoke hanging with Tom.
James Arness was like 6'4".
You know how I love my structures.
We were actually heading to the Dalton Gang hideout
when the road we needed to get there suddenly had a mile
long back up of all kinds of vehicles and after
sitting for like 20 minutes, we bailed.
It probably opened up after we bailed.
LOL.
Sadly, we didn't get to do any of that because of COVID.
We did stay at the Gunsmoke RV park.
Nice park.
