Historical Appomattox

Absolutely gorgeous and chockfull of history.
Amazing that it was so well preserved.
Appomattox courthouse and welcome center.

 This guy was a hoot.
Pointing out that you were a stranger in his southern drawl,
asking where your from and then providing
a history if your state happened to be in the war.

A lone grave in the middle of a field.
It was the son of the proprietor of the mercantile at the
 Appomattox Courthouse.

 Slaves quarters

I really could've spent way more time there.
If you get that way - stop!

Riding the Blue Ridge Parkway

Always some gorgeous scenes to be had.
No matter what direction you look.

Stayed a night up there boondocking.
Boondocking is camping with no hookups.
Its all good if you self contained.
It was wonderfully cool.

Cape May Ferry and Inlet at Ocean City

 Always a fun ride.
No driving for Tom and it was a beautiful day.
Stayed out on deck instead of hiding inside.

It was almost sunset at the inlet and it was
cool watching the boats go in and out.
Conveniently there's a boardwalk close by.

Another gorgeous sunset as Assateague.

Wild horses and deer in Assateague

And they couldn't keep me from tracking them down.
Of course our camp was on the ocean side
and thanks to SW winds - the biting flies came.
So the horses went over to the bay side.
Smart horses.
And deer.

Actually it was all Tom's idea.
It is really funny.

Beautiful sunset on the bay side.
It was HOT down there.
Which is why we made a mad dash to the mountains.

RV scrapping the next round of pages

This book is getting wild. I have 3 inch binder
rings and they need to be bigger.
Do them make them bigger?
Inquiring minds.

Anyway, since I'm sorely lacking in the photo taking
I've collected some ephemera - not much
but it does help.
The pocket is from WRMK on the road I think.
Those cards have come in mighty handy.
(Thanks Holli)!
 These two pages actually correspond.
Gasp*faint*thud.
Of course ZZ made it in and to keep the tickets,
I jacked this pocket page from my pal
Connie over at Crafty Goodies -
check her's out here.
Getting together with friends is fun.
Yay! A photo!
And then there's our annual Labor Day
picnic photo.
So glad Kevin is there every year to document it.
Circumstances and people change.
Some have left and others have arrived.
The ebb and flow of life.
We'll be headed out Thursday, headed home
the long way.
It has been interesting "living" in an RV for
a month in one spot.
I smell a page coming up....
