Mixed Media - Twelve and then some

This was a fun page to make, however, if you skim

down, I made it for the photo of my favorite, fearless eldest son

jumping out of a perfectly good airplane but the colors

didn't work. At. All.

However, this page of Owen turning 12 is perfect.

It turned out really fun.

Lots of TH - using the oxides sprays.

I'm still trying to get the hang of the sprays, etc.

stamps, but the embellishment side of it.

I still scrapbook it LOL.

However, it turned out using the packaging technique

and some stencils from Art-C and some

Tim Holtz tags and embellies.

The title was done with stamps I bought from M's

and even though I have the packaging - there's no name.

I also use some same stamps from the Art-C.

Thanks to my pal Holli who gifted me with this

TH die cut of flowers.

Love the colors!!!

Those butterflies are made of wax paper. I find

that if you layer in wax paper when die cutting

intricate dies - it helps pop them out easier and the

wax paper does make a cool embellie.

This was a premade page - using watercolors.

Had a lot of fun making these pages and as I said

I'm feeling my way. 

I also found these pages are sticking together so I'm

only doing one side with photos in this album as well.

In this album which is a mixed media watercolor album I gessoed

the pages and I think that is the sticky culprit.

I'll keep you posted.

 

Fun Doodlebug Easter page

This is a totally adorable line with lots of

colorful, fun papers.

I had to fussy cut that sweet bunny out as

and embellishment.

 Using the packaging technique with watercolors 

to highlight the papers and another fussy cut emblellishment

that I added bows for a fun look.

 Funny story about the hearts. 

I made a TON of them.

I originally got the papers to make Easter cards

for the grands. I wanted to make shaker cards, hence the

different cut styles.

Well....

they turned out to be an absolute disaster.

I didn't have the correct see-through stuff, using some

"transparency" instead of acetate, there was glue everywhere

and all the sequins and stuff kept falling out.

Therefore, they were scrapped and now I have a lot

of hearts that you may or may not see as photos of the

grands roll in.

Love how it turned out- the "title" is really

older K&Co. 

Doodled around the page with a yellow sharpie.

Hearts and graph paper - win

 I have a bunch of Pink Fresh papers so I decided

I needed to use some because I'm

really trying to keep supplies down to a mild roar.

Bwahahahaha!!!

Right.

Anyhoo, I did use the 6x6 pads to layer and they

did have that cool clipboard stamp that

is totally fun and has nothing to do whatsoever with the page.

And that Bugs Bunny peeking out - thanks to Holli

I punched a bunch out and love it.

Did splash some watercolors about using the packaging

technique (since I've sworn off mists for awhile) and love 

how it turned out. It kind of brought both sides of

the paper together and grounded the photo.

Had a really hard time picking out a photo but I went with B&W

because I felt it just worked.

So Pink Fresh everything except the title and chipboard pieces

that came from Studio Calico kits.

Circles and Squares

Since I had some already cut in the diecut box

I decided that a some shapes were

needed after splashing some watercolors on

using the packaging technique.

 Love the little feather cluster and also

the little colored shapes doted about the shapes.

This is a fun photo that I don't know how I overlooked it

til now. The grands on my lap - so cool because

now they're getting older so it may not be so cool soon.

This was fun to do.

What's ET without the bike and moon.

Tucked my journaling into that little pocket.

 Used a bit of the packaging technique.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong but most is covered up.

This is a photo of my favorite eldest son meeting ET.

He looks amused.

So back in the 80's there was a radio station Q105

which had the ever popular Q-Zoo.

They decided to host an ET  party downtown

and I thought it would be a good idea

to stand in line with a 7 month old to have his photo

taken with ET.

(I think my pal Emily went with-not sure).

Anyway, we did have a great time- Nick was a 

great baby that stayed awake for his photo op

and those are Scott Shannon's hands holding him up.

Papers from the Smash book

These papers were leftover from the album I made 

for the 2016 Leaf Peeping Tour and were

taking up a lot of room in my scrap basket which

has totally runneth over. (more about that later).

 Love the edges when I pulled them out of the notebook

so I kept them as they add lovely texture.

I have been wanting to do this photo for a long time

and just couldn't decide what I wanted to do.

It totally worked out with these papers

and I got to use some girly stickers I had laying around for ages

The packaging technique helped pull colors around.

Mostly Studio Calico, K&Co, Shimelle diecut, thickers, and no clue on the stickers.

Going round in circles

Broke out the ole circle scissors.

I have a love/hate relationship with that tool mostly

because I'm highly uncoordinated.

Using the packaging technique with mists I pulled the colors

from the washi tape that came in the Studio Calico November kit.

I miss my firework, splash, grass punch.

It just disappeared one day and I KNOW I would NEVER

have given it away.

These splats are courtesy of my pal Holli who punched

a bunch in advance for me.

I think this turned out to be very fun with the circles and the mists.

Once again are those MAMBI alphas.

Loving the Pink Fresh

FB can be quite the enabler.

Scrolling down and there it was - Pink Fresh having a warehouse sale.

I love warehouse sales - its a big grab bag.

Look at all the goodies.

I have never used Pink Fresh before.

It's pretty and feminine.

Here's my first page.

First I laid down some watercolors and I don't

think I used gesso because I laid it all on there without thinking.

Using the packaging technique is

a great way to splosh things about. 

The papers are really a heavy weight so it all turned out good.

 The title is from Michael's $1.50 bin.

Love that!

 Layered the photo using papers from the 6x6 pad.

The sentiment is from their cut apart and totally fits Amelia.

Love how it turned out!

You'll be seeing more as I have a lot to use up!

Scrappin' my scraps

Since I've been home I've been binging on scrapbooking videos

and got this great idea from Tori Bissell and

her thing is scrap your scraps.

So she did one that looked like an old ledger paper

and invoices collage she saw.

Mine turned out more calico. 

I decided to use black cardstock as a backing

 mostly because everyone

else is using white.

Quite the renegade I am.

It also made everything pop!

I have a ton of papers in my scrap box and I'll do

this again. I randomly (sortof) picked out papers and

slapped them down.

 I didn't think of photographing it as I did

it until it was over. 

I also used bits of cutout papers too.

Once I adhered it all I gessoed it all -to make

it a bit cohesive and tone down the bright.

 Did a bit of random stamping -

 Also did the packaging technique 

to bring all the wild colors together.

Added a doily to ground the photos.

The photos are a hoot - me and Amelia doing snapchat.

LOL.

I really love how it turned out-very fun and funky.

Check out Tori - she's a very lovely lady with some great ideas.

Oh and the edges were very um....edgy which made

me crazy so I cut out the middle

of 8.5x11 black cardstock and used the edge and made those

edges quite lovely.

So that girly skull and crossbones - used it!

It just happened to work for this page and

its not just for Halloween.

I did put some enamel hearts on the eyes as they are

shaped as hearts anyway it just seemed to highlight the girly-ness.

I did get carried away with the packaging technique.

 I also didn't use gesso either.

Which could explain a lot.

Anyway when I photographed this with the title

"strong" it was grey.

And I found hard to read. 

The color worked, but alas....

 For the final - I did go back and rub some

white paint and shabby chic'd it up
which makes it a tad more readable.

Reworking a PL card and blog technical difficulties

Somehow in the creation of this page it
was published without me being aware of it until
I saw it in google+ that linked to nowhere.
I couldn't find it anywhere in/on or around my blog.
Which was very weird.
So I removed it from google+ and am now
reposting - so my apologies if you've seen it before and
went nowhere.
I am baffled as to how it happened, however, we all know
that technology works in mysterious ways.


So here is another page done in Soaphouse Mama style with

lots of bits and pieces with some mixed

media tossed in because why not. 

Is that owl not adorable?
Its and old Technique Tuesday stamp that I've had forever.

Below is the card I wanted to use originally,

however, I felt the color wasn't quite right.

As if, when you look - the colors aren't exactly matchy-matchy.

So......

 Using some bazzill cardstock, a star die cut from my

die cut box and a white pen.

Wa-la!

(I know....me and a white pen, drawing lines just boggles the minds

doesn't it LOL).

 The the collage photo - showing from birth to 8.
This page is a bit chaotic and I'm finding I like it.

rocks the birthday world.

Banners and mixed media

I am really on a mixed media roll this week, here I

used molding paste and paint for the "stars" and

ink and stencils for the dots.

Of course the packaging technique came into play using

green and orange mists because I felt the brown and grey were too dull.

These are the photos I had in mind for Monday's page

that just didn't quite work out.

 For some reason I only mixed media half the page and felt the

bottom looked really plain - even with 3 photos so.....

banners. A mix of triangle and fishtail.

 I did get inspiration by watching a ton of Missy Whidden's videos.

I've been binging on videos since I got home.

She uses different mats for each photo.

I found I like that.

I did use a quite obvious title but hey

sometimes you just gotta roll
with it.

Using most every stamp I own technique

(Again with my poor neglected blog).

It's one of my favorite techniques that I lifted

from KittyScrapper.

If you haven't checked out Nancy - go see. 

She's a lot of fun and love her style.

Anyway - I used Navy ink to kind of go with

the package technique in which I used some Heidi Swapp mists.

ALL fun to do.

I actually did this page with other photos in mind

and it didn't quite work out because

of the way I did the all the stamping.

Shocking I know.

However, this photo actually fit perfectly so all is well.

I used a variety of Studio Calico stamps and a rolling stamp

that has fun sayings on it.

I also used that "stupid" arrow stamp that gives me fits

I mixed some mist with some molding paste.

I liked it so well I stamped all over it.

LOL.

I really quite like the mixed media going on here.

As you will see I seem to be on a roll with this week.

Creating a background

I really wanted to use these veggies again from Basic Grey

and I fussy cut them out from remaining scraps

and I also wanted them to pop.

So I used a small circle stencil and some

modeling paste on a white background.

 I used the packaging technique to add the mists.

They say you can't screw it up.

Well....LOL.

I don't feel like I screwed it up but I also don't

think it "went on" like those experts in the video showed.

However in the end I did like the result.

 The packaging technique is when you take some mists

and either drop it on or mist it on the plastic

packaging from embellishments - then you smoosh it around

on the packaging and then dab/smear/smoosh

around your page.

It is pretty cool and easy actually.

I seem to make things harder than I have to LOL.

I wanted those veggies as an accent because its a photo

of a veggie - zucchini actually.

Tom's daughter gifted us a spirilizer for Christmas and

we finally got to use it when we

defrosted some homemade spaghetti sauce

in the crockpot this past nippy Sunday - and decided

to forgo the pasta.

We substitued zucchini and spaghetti squash 

and they were both a delicious- my favorite

was the zuchini which was sauteed really really quickly

in oil and garlic so it wouldn't get soggy.

As a result, it had a bit of crunch and we found you need

to make a lot of zucchini to have enough.

It was fun to do and I'll be using that spirilizer more.

Basic Grey with some Mr. Huey mists and some jute because I liked

the rustic-ness of it with the veggies.
I heard Basic Grey is going out of business.
Very sad if true.
