All about the numbers

Love Basic Grey - especially this old paper that

has numbers and problems that are

important to denote birthdays.

 Since Owen is a numbers guy (and also an origami folding guy)

I knew this would be perfect for the celebration.

 I have a lot of moose where that came from and you'll be seeing them. LOL.

Added some die cuts and really OLD Tim Holtz grunge

with the hash tags and number.

Also used some really OLD paint as well.

I'm actually shocked I had semi-matching colors.

Very fun!

Silver and sequins and feathers

What a combination. 

Always fun on a date, a go-go dancer or a scrapbook page.

This page was so much fun to do and I really tried not to over think it.

Which, for me, is tough to do.
It started with the silver doily - mostly because I wanted to use it.
And you can't have silver without more bling going on.
I actually misted first and the sequins were a last minute touch

letting them drop where they may and quickly gluing them done.
One.at.a.time.

The vellum envelop had been floating around for awhile and with some journaling
I thought it would be perfect for the page.
I can remember when vellum envelops were as popular as
the word strips for titles that I referenced in Going back old school.
Its fun to see some of the "old" stuff make a come back.

For the title I took my cue from the bows next to Anniegirl.

Annie loves Minnie. Annie makes an adorable Minnie.

And how fun is that?

I hunted down that heart in my grungeboard stack and added some
liquid pearl. Both items were from stash older than dirt so I'm
really impressed with myself that stuff like that is finally getting used.
The blingy pink thickers is in that stash too.
Why I hoard that stuff - I don't know.
Raise your hand if you do the same.
I know I'm not alone!!!

On a side note :

I think I used to puchase stuff like that because everyone else did and then I had no idea

what to do with it. This was also back in the day when anything new

came out I jumped all over it. Mostly because I worked at a SB shop and tried

to keep up with all the new stuff in case customer's had questions.

 I'm a lot pickier on what I purchase now, learning a lot

from those I follow in using my purchasing power more wisely and not

having a lot of stuff laying around unused.

Although....just sayin'....

My stash is like a bowl of spaghetti - it just keeps growing no matter how

much I use. I'm thinking another purge is in order.

 I am almost done with my August SC KIT which is soooo cool.

Cutting background paper

Can be a tricky thing.

For instance, that compass you can barely see was

painstakingly measured and cut so that it would be a prominent

feature on this 8x8 page.

You can see how well that worked out.

However, I'm not going to stress out about it

because - well the page actually worked out without it.

Shocking.

This is very old Creative Imaginations pirate paper.

Had to dig for it.

"Twas worth the effort because don't those two cutie pies

look like pirates which I'm not sure was intentional.

Some old Tim Holtz grungeboard - sadly I used up all but one

skull and crossbones and that on remaining one

was way too big for the page which is okay

because I am already obvious enough.

Thickers and an anchor exuberantly punched by my friend Holli

finish the whole pirate/boat/yo ho thing.

Out of a watercolor mess

Such as this one where you can see the outline

of the where the photos were.

I added the watercolors in after the photos were adhered and its

obvious I need to work on this skill.

I flipped the page over and wasn't feeling it even with the washi tape addition. 

At. All.

So I found this basic grey page (from my new warehouse purchasing gig) and the colors

worked perfect actually minus the watercolors. I didn't have to change the matting and found

some really cute wooden buttons that work well. 

 I put the entire page together, and forgot about the journaling, thus

the kraft tags came into play. Sigh.

I'm thinking when its that's hard to create a page I should read a book 

or do something else. 

Magically, I painted the title on TH grundgeboard without a castastrophe AND added

sequins without too many sticking to my fingers, AND found all the

letters I needed for the word "long" in this pile of wooden 

embellishments in a plastic bowl - that made me beg the question of "what was I thinking 

dumping all the wooden things together". 

I have saved the original patterned paper as I have not given up on it. When I'm that annoyed, and scrapbooking really shouldn't be annoying, its best for me to start again.
Stay tuned to see if and how the rejected paper is revived.

After all that and Thursday's debacle,

I know you can't possible fathom how I could break my foot.

Off the rails scrapbooking challenge - Up up & Away

Its a challenge that covers anything that flies.

I chose my hot ballon stamp.

And a mixed media format inspired by Soaphousemama once again.

It just seemed to fit, although when I was working on the page I didn't have any photos 

much less all the putting pix of all grandkids in mind, 

however, it was awesome the way it worked out.

 I chose the colors from a sunset perspective and once completed I decided

that B&W photos was the only way to go.

It was a fun page to do, AND in full disclosure once again,

 this was my second attempt page-the first page

ended up in the garbage.

I did rescue it and have been die cutting shapes out of it.

(We'll see what happens with them).

I used 2 pieces of kraft paper glued together because I didn't have canvas.

The colors are a mix of gesso, paint, and watercolors and alcohol

ink that has been more or less covered 

because that resulted in disaster

in my mind.

The stamp is from inkadinkado and the alphas are Tim Holtz grungeboard

that I've had forever.

Pressure's off - A completed Scrapbook Page

I thought I would do a how it's done. And I can do highlights as you'll see later in the post. I used the white acryllic paint on the Fancy Pants paper. Swirling it about and splattering it around where I think the photo will be.

AND THEN, I picked out a bunch of stuff to put on the page and a photo.

A completed page!!!

It's just how it went.

I got sooooo caught up in the placement and making sure it was

perfect, I forgot what I was doing was a stepbystep page.

So I did a bunch of layers with WRM project life cards, Bella Blvd,

Basic Grey, Bassil cardstock, Creative Cafe tag and Recollections washi tape.

And aren't those parenthesis cool?

I had them forever so your guess would be as good as mine about the mfg.

I did get a bit windy.

FOOT UPDATE - I will be calling to schedule an x-ray tomorrow for a DR appt.

next week. It feels good. I sometimes forget and put it on the floor - no pressure and 

it doesn't hurt. It does ache from being in the boot and its very 

aromatic after a long day.
