Getting crafty with pinecones

We have a lot of pine trees in the backyard.

That bear lots of pine cones.

And every year I say I'm going to do something.

So this year I did.

I have a TON of supplies 

and I know that surprises you - so I dug out a variety

because I wasn't sure which way I'd roll.

 I started with paint.

And some glitter.

I must say that the deck looks lovely in glitter.

As did my hands, pants and hair.

 And the paint made a happy little pine cone and I love that color blue.

Or Turquoise or blue green.

I have lots of blue, turquoise pine cones.

 Next I broke out the stickles and it looked very pretty.

However squeezing it out bit by bit was annoying and time consuming.

So...I dumped the entire bottle out and commenced to painting it on.

 Painting worked out well for both Stickles and Liquid Pearl.

 I did make a variety until I ran out of something.

I used up a lot of supplies that had been sitting in the drawer

for a long, long, long time.

 The Stickles made it blingy.

 And the glitter made it sugary.

I really love both looks.

I also kept some of the pinecones pure.

Love that rustic look.

I used jute as the hanger and made it extra long.

And used hot glue.

Hot glue is like eating French Onion Soup.

And it ain't pretty.

I'm still pulling strings off of things.

 The beautiful bows were from ribbon from grandson Lou's shower.

I still have some left if you're interested.

However, its down to the colors yellow and blue.

So this is the case of about 40 pine cones all done up....

ready for our Christmas party that all my pals

can pick and choose whichever ones they like.

I did keep some for my trees and they look amazing as you can see above.

Anyway I used about 20 bottles of stickles

and 3 bottles of glitter.

I still have paint remaining

 (big bottles).

And you thought I was slacking off.

Working with some really wild papers

This was actually the first try on working with the Graphic 45 papers

for my project over at OTR. I just wasn't feeling it and that's when I scrapped

this page and then created this page.

I do scrap by the seat of my pants, however, I beginning to love the 

challenge of reviving train wrecks.

Since I've been resusitating train wreck pages I figured I'd give this a go.

Especially since I had already had the mists and paints on the page by 

trying to add some texture with an onion bag and drips.

 Since there's so much drama in the background I decided 

some neutrality was called for.

I just couldn't decide how I wanted it to go.

I love rick rack and I love white. 

But...............

 I also decided that making my own die cuts was the way to go as well.

 What you don't see is that I did die cut some white

because the palette seriously needed a break in the color action.

 I also broke out some punches as well because it was fun

and fussy cut some big flowers for "filler."

I did add some liquid pearl that I'm still thinking about.

Love the pops of white and it was totally fun making my own embellishments.

Reminded me of the "old" days. LOL!

The doilies are Studio Calico and alphas - Basic Grey

the rest is Bohemian Bazaar.

And I have more where that came from.

The photo is of my gram and grandpop back in the day when 

they were dating - maybe. 

I'm just guessing its about 1927 because they were older (29) when they married.

Here they look young and in love.

And it lasted a long long time.

Silver and sequins and feathers

What a combination. 

Always fun on a date, a go-go dancer or a scrapbook page.

This page was so much fun to do and I really tried not to over think it.

Which, for me, is tough to do.
It started with the silver doily - mostly because I wanted to use it.
And you can't have silver without more bling going on.
I actually misted first and the sequins were a last minute touch

letting them drop where they may and quickly gluing them done.
One.at.a.time.

The vellum envelop had been floating around for awhile and with some journaling
I thought it would be perfect for the page.
I can remember when vellum envelops were as popular as
the word strips for titles that I referenced in Going back old school.
Its fun to see some of the "old" stuff make a come back.

For the title I took my cue from the bows next to Anniegirl.

Annie loves Minnie. Annie makes an adorable Minnie.

And how fun is that?

I hunted down that heart in my grungeboard stack and added some
liquid pearl. Both items were from stash older than dirt so I'm
really impressed with myself that stuff like that is finally getting used.
The blingy pink thickers is in that stash too.
Why I hoard that stuff - I don't know.
Raise your hand if you do the same.
I know I'm not alone!!!

On a side note :

I think I used to puchase stuff like that because everyone else did and then I had no idea

what to do with it. This was also back in the day when anything new

came out I jumped all over it. Mostly because I worked at a SB shop and tried

to keep up with all the new stuff in case customer's had questions.

 I'm a lot pickier on what I purchase now, learning a lot

from those I follow in using my purchasing power more wisely and not

having a lot of stuff laying around unused.

Although....just sayin'....

My stash is like a bowl of spaghetti - it just keeps growing no matter how

much I use. I'm thinking another purge is in order.

 I am almost done with my August SC KIT which is soooo cool.
