Remembering favorite things

Everyone has favorite things -

 things you enjoy

things that make you happy

things that bring you comfort

things passed down.

These are a few of my mom's favorite things

and some were my Gram's and then mine

and I thought it would be fun to showcase and

pocket pages worked it out the best.

Such a nostalgic page for me because some of the items

are not in my possession anymore

so it brings me comfort to see the photos of the items

especially when I see them as they were arranged

in mom's home.

Basic Grey, Bassil, various Studio Calico stuff, Doodle Bug stickers,

and thickers (which I turned the F around to make T's because

I was over finding a font that had letters I needed.

I thought I would do a how it's done. And I can do highlights as you'll see later in the post. I used the white acryllic paint on the Fancy Pants paper. Swirling it about and splattering it around where I think the photo will be.

AND THEN, I picked out a bunch of stuff to put on the page and a photo.

It's just how it went.

I got sooooo caught up in the placement and making sure it was

perfect, I forgot what I was doing was a stepbystep page.

So I did a bunch of layers with WRM project life cards, Bella Blvd,

Basic Grey, Bassil cardstock, Creative Cafe tag and Recollections washi tape.

And aren't those parenthesis cool?

I had them forever so your guess would be as good as mine about the mfg.

I did get a bit windy.

FOOT UPDATE - I will be calling to schedule an x-ray tomorrow for a DR appt.

next week. It feels good. I sometimes forget and put it on the floor - no pressure and 

it doesn't hurt. It does ache from being in the boot and its very 

aromatic after a long day.

Layers, Stitching & some Stamping OH My

I love how that title just rolls off the tongue. Well okay - it's pretty well known I'm easily amused. And I wish I could say I was amused in building this page. It was a drive-by that started before I left for Thanksgiving. And there it was taunting me when I returned. From the cold tundra. With a sinus infection.

WAH WAH WAH !!! LOL!!!

 So here's a sneaky peak at all the layering that went on and use of negative space.

Of course it wasn't until after I glued everything down, along with pop dots that I decided it needed some stitching. I creatively curled the remaining thread around the tag to hang at the bottom to throw you off in thinking that I meant to do that.

It totally worked right???

Then I had to find a photo.

So in order to keep the ole triangle going I stitched the arrows at the top and through the title at the bottom, and that means I can't be changing my mind about the title, and I really don't want to. 

I was trying to use the brick wall as a grafitti thing and I'm sure its been done. However, I am not at all confident in my drawing ability and I couldn't make up my mind about stamps to use so being the decisive person I'm known to be, I decided to use the grafitti paper that was in the kit. I'll go out on a limb and figure that's why Studio Calico put them in the kit.

A total win-win.

And maybe you'll notice that there's something I normally always do on a page - that I've not done on this page.

Harvested our 5th pineapple of the season....

We've had a very fruitful season this year. FIVE (5) sweet pineapples fresh from the vine. (The greens you see behind it is fresh basil and oregano-nothing better on food than that when cooking).

Knowing that this pineapple was ripe was an accident. New acquaintances from NJ happened to be staying with our friends next door and they were fascinated with our flora and fauna.

 And they noticed the pineapple plants and are astounded that a. things grow and b. you can eat the things that grow. (We find that totally amusing and widespread with folks from the north).

So we told them how sweet and delicious they are when eaten fresh with no pesticides.

And when they went out back to look at one - it was ready to eat!

So Tom harvested the pineapple and we shared it with our new friends to their delight and amazement.

It's so cool to watch them enjoy it.

I am now rooting the tops of the 5 we harvested and I'll be looking to plant them soon. We are running out of real estate for them however, so we need to figure it out. They love the morning sun from the south and rain - lots of rain which we have been blessed to have everyday. What a wildlife.
