Halloween cards

I actually finished the cards for the grands. It started out innocently enough making a card for Ashton and he’s not quite a year. I didn’t want to scare the pants off of him so I found this cute stamp set that I bought on the whim that are LDRS creative stamps and it has cute little dogs so I decided it was cute for him. I thought it was too cutsey for the older ones but changed my mind. . and yes I fussy cut out way more critters than I needed Shockingly my fingers weren’t happy also, I didn’t make them quite as cookie-cutter as I usually do. Moved the moon around which was fun in changing everthing else up.

ALOT OF FUSSY CUTTING. 

There were 6 dies of the animals so I made 10 of each because

I thought I would need that many for the cards.

Silly me.

However, it was great to have a big selection.

Only count I got right were the bats.

And because the moon was on black paper I used enamel ink.

Just doodling around

I was up late one night and I bought these mixed media

art journals to mess around with different

kinds of inks, paints, crayons, stamping and also

use them for journaling without all the creative stuff in it

so I decided why not mess around and doodle.

So I grabbed a black pen and graphite pencil and just

started messing around.

Now, I seriously have no drawing skills. 

However, I found I can draw flowers so I started with that.

And then birds, a really bad copy of some

Dina Whakely's birds but none-the-less they came out

seriously not bad.

I also did the backgrounds, my fussy cut doodlings are on.

Not bad for an amature.

I love how they came out. 

I colored them in with distress crayons and honestly 

using them like watercolors made my drawings look pretty good.

Surprised me too.

Found more backgrounds I did with TH inks and Nuvo shimmer paints 

because I did a lot of doodling that needed a background.

So I laid all these out and didn't adhere them because I

was not sure I want to add to the backgrounds

so just to keep things interesting

 I opened the window, next to my desk, 

and everything blew everywhere

Good thing I took a couple of photos LOL.

It'll be fun putting them all back together.

 

Mixed Media - "no beauty shines brighter than that of a good heart"

Love how this turned out.

You may remember I did this page ahead of time 

in a "just because I could" frame of mind.

Using inks and watercolors with stencils I had

trying to make a "scene."

The sun that I drew and the clouds I made were from

thread. 

And it looked stupid.

So I pulled them all off the page which then required

some covering up.

The sun I tried to fix it with just wasn't quite right

but I had this doily thingy for cake decorating more or less

The clouds were stamped on cardstock and I

had the creative moment in swishing white paint across the clouds.

Love the photo of Annie and Owen but the background

had a lot going on AND I screwed up the 

photo after it was printed and no covering that up.

SO...I fussy cut it out.

I'm liking that look.

Having them framed on top of a bird looked fun.

I had to cover up the original TH sentiment because it didn't

go with the photo.

I also decided a title wasn't required.

Travelers Notebook - Our meet up at Chili's

Every so often and mostly when I'm in town

my pal Barb and I get together.

Since she lives north and I live south

we meet in the middle at Chili's and wine and

dine our bad selves in the midst of

yaking and yuking it up for several hours.

We even make friends with the servers because

we are there for awhile.

So I saved the bag the utensils come in and

don't it make a mighty fine place to put a tag

with some rather lengthy journaling on it.

 And there are more of those fussy cut flowers I've used

on previous pages - because waste not - want not

and the work so well on this page.

And this page wouldn't be complete without some

Love how this turned out. 

Using a different book  - I have 3 going on at the moment.

Each for different stuff.

 This book "Life is Sweet" was given to me 

by my pal Holli and I put

whatever  I want in this book and its working

out lovely.

 

 I have done mixed media in this book but

I'm finding I fancy the kraft look.

 

 Using a bunch of really old Studio Calico

6x6 papers and fussy cutting the flowers and the birds

and basically going crazy with all the items.

I love how it shows off my beautiful granddaughter,

her new 'do and the granddog August.

This is the book and the pages lay flat when it's open.

Mixed Media page - Greats

This is my album where I do what I want

no rhyme no reason.

Anyway, I was playing around because I had

run out of mojo and started fussy cutting

things out because I needed something to do.

So this is a photo of my great grandmother and great uncle.

It's printed on regular printer paper, actually scanned - I think.

I did a bunch of them because one of the creative

geniuses that I follow Suzanne Rose (I think) had the

idea of doing B&W's of your heritage or any photo actually,

on regular paper so it can incorporated into

a junk journal - use your relatives instead of someone else's.

So I did.

I thought the fussy cut flower and bee and the photo

just went together.

The orange paper with holes is a TH die cut. 

I'm not really sure what to do with it but I used both
negative and positive space.

Laid down some water colors and wa-la.
