Birthday cards -boys

This one is for Owen who has a dream of traveling the world
and found this amazing map paper from
Basic Grey South Pacific - paper pad.
REALLY REALLY old.
So glad to stash bust and love how it turned out.
The triangle is a cutout and added is age
and love the itty bitty geo tag stamp.
Not a clue about the stickers.
except for the TH one and MS alpha punches.
Best purchase EVER.
This is for Connor (they are about a week apart)
and had fun with the cupcake paper
(he loves cupcakes)
And this also came from an old Basic Grey paper pad called RSVP.
Love that.
The stamp is in a set from Tonic.
Very cute set.

Travelers Notebook - more ephemera

Whoops I cut the top of smidge.
That's an itty bitty yellow heart.
And if you look down isn't that
"burger" the cutest.
Oh and the adorable geo tag for the apostrophe in
the title. Clever eh?
Also found my phrase stamp and went
a bit of a stampede. LOL.

Had a lovely time with family at Ford's Garage
which is a really neat place.
They use A LOT of things that belong in a
garage - like hose clamps for napkin rings which
they quickly collect LOL.
There's tires for sinks and onion rings come
on oil funnels.
Fun and kitchy.
Makes great burgers.
The ephemera came with my order
and it was delish.

Traveler's Notebook - Venice Jetty

Took a trip to the Venice Jetty. It was a beautiful
day and chock full of
 fishermen, posers, boats,
dolphins, etc. everything you'd want in a jetty.
It's always a happening place.

Would you look at this poser.
Quite the model.

Used really old Authentique withe some Quickutz dies, Martha
Stewart alpha punch
and it worked out really well.

TN- Solomon's castle

Of course it has to be scrapped.
I love this side-by-side stuff.
Anyhoo, I added different sized pages in my traveler's notebook
because I love working in different sizes.

I miss that.

I was so used to working from 6x6, 6x12, 8x8, 8.5x11 and 12x12.
I would let the photo dictate the size.
They'd also ALL be included in my 12x12 album.
It was so fun and never boring.
I highly recommend it.

I digress.

It was fun at the castle and it's very unique and a must see
at least once.
There is so much to see and I love that the strips show
the details around the property.

I fussy cut some really old Studio Calico, Martha Stewart
alpha punch (LOVE) and various embellishments.

Another birthday coming up-a pinterest win!

Pinterest rocks!
I'm just bummed because I can't figure this out on my own.
It was quite easy to put together.
Cookie Monster.
Who doesn't love a good cookie.

Travelers Notebook - Top Nine

So of course I jumped on the Top Nine bandwagon
along with everyone else and really
like the combo that was chosen.
It did turn out to be more selfies than anything.
Ah well...
So switching gears - I jumped over to Bo Bunny because
it had a frame I wanted and those tabs.
And I purchased this from a for-real scrapbook shop
in North Carolina and just now got to use it.
Of course it isn't complete without some Tim Holtz
and some Heidi Swapp colorshine and Martha Stewart
alpha punch for the title.

Life is Sweet album - Death Valley

Keeping it simple and leaving the page basically kraft except
for the few gesso splotches which does adds something, right?
Maybe.
LOL.
Anyhoo, Death Valley is gorgeous believe-it-or-not
and needs to be on your bucket list also.

I chose these photos because the mountains are
beautiful, and then in the mix of salt flats there is a
beautiful flower amongst the rubble.Using some
very old Studio Calico papers from 6x6 paper pads
pulling out the purple from the photos love
the ripped texture and perfect embellies from Tim Holtz
and my favorite butterfly punch.
And my favorite Martha Stewart alpha punch - love
the size and shape of the letters and it's just
so easy to punch the perfect colors for the titles and
you never run out of letters.
So you'll  be seeing them a lot - among other
things that you'll see a lot.

Additional pages in my Travelers Notebook

I am actually loving how this notebook is coming together.
Even with the lack of dimension.
This photo was made in the collage choice in Easy PhotoPrint editor.
So in the background is a faded covered bridge that
covers the entire page and the others nesting in it.
Pretty cool - there is supposed to be text in the first block
but I couldn't figure that part out. LOL.
Finally got that 82 out of my stash!
Just having fun with die cut embellies and love the
photo with the lighthouse behind our home.
And because the patch had bling - there's bling going on there.
It's so much fun exploring and that bridge
is amazing - high and deep sprouting up from the gorge.
This is from our ride through the backroads that take
you from one cool town to another.
And then my favorite road to hate. LOL.
 The abandoned mine was huge.
The conveyor runs at least 1300 feet and was
designed by Henry Ford.
It made the workers lives easier in getting the coal to the train.

Travelers notebook - Whale of a time

I used the canon printer feature and printed all 4
photos on a 4x6 and I like doing that
as it saves space and if I get it right I can tell a story.

Did a bit on each photo using punches and
die cuts.

We had a great time and saw lots of
blows, rolls and flippers.
We were in that little raft boat that was so
much fun to glide over the water.
Told hubby we needed to get one of those.
And we took a trip to see the Astoria Column
and while I did get pictures of it
I also got literature about and it fits
rather neatly in my traveler's notebook
So I made an executive decision that I don't need
to print a photo and make an actual page
if I have literature and I can find a place to journal
if I need to.
I like being flexible like this.

Travelers Notebook - Heceta Lighthouse

Lighthouses just make me swoon.
They are just soooo cool looking, have "romantic" pasts
that involved a lot of work and sometime solitary existences for
the lightkeepers. So yeah my darling sweet hubby
chases down lighthouses for me.
I remembered I had some thread so I popped some
in along with some frayed "cloth" for
some dimension and texture.
Some Tim Holtz paper.
Breaking out my MS alpha punch again.
Love that font.

Mixed Media - Monkey Man

If you been following, and I hope you have,
I posted yesterday all my homemade embellishments here
and I have made a page using one of the monkeys.
The monkeys are big and adorable and I love the googly eyes.
In the background, I used smoke grey ink on
the Tim Holtz stencil "coffee stains"
with some red raspberry ink since the page
turned out to be almost monochromatic - but I wanted
to use red because of the heart in the quote
and it needs the red ink to tie it all together..
I tossed some buttons "galore" around
which have those itty bitty little fun pieces are well as sequins.
I was inspired by these two itty bitty photos
of Shane at 3 months that was rattling around in my
embellishment bin.
I've scrapped this photo before because it's really
a cute story about my baby having so much fun getting
his photo taken in Walmarts and laughing so loud
everyone in the store came to see the fun he was having.

However, his nickname was monkeyman because he used
to curl his toes like monkeys do. LOL.

Traveler's Notebook - Cascade Lakes

Hopefully you saw the post of the photos of Cascade Lakes
because it was a really pretty ride.
And mostly because of the eagles, I wanted to scrap it.
Using my Martha Stewart punch for the title.
Love that punch.
A stamp from Studio Calico that I fussy cut.
I actually remembered to use my Oregon sticker.
It worked well.
And also that scene which had the cool clouds.

Traveler's Notebook - Snapshots

So NOT have a white background I used a dotted
background stamp from Inkadinkado.
And I can't tell you what the other stamp is.
I've had forever and the packaging does not exist.
Hetch Hetchy is my new Martha Steward punch.
Love IT.
Couple little dodads about and I didn't leave space for jounaling.
Sigh.

Birthday card

My pal Holli die cut this owl out and I have
a couple of them but this is for
favorite youngest son.
Maybe a bit young for him but he'll think it's a hoot.
(snort)
Anyway, I traced the owl and cut it out.
And then had to piece together the rest of it.
So the ears, nose, feet and mouth.
ooo and the girly eyelashes.
         ALL ME!!
Finally hit up a Michaels and bought the
Martha Steward alpha punches.
It's really a nice size and I reach for punches
faster than die cuts because of the
convenience.
I do like the font.

It's a big goof and I hope he'll enjoy.

Anyone else having trouble with white mists?

I really love having white mists on a page
and if you look at those grayish looking ones - that's
Heidi Swapp's white mist that I shook shook shook -
I also have a recollections white mist - same result -
so when I tried a different tack - when
I altered the color on the title I tossed some white paint around.
That's the look I was going for.
So that adorable little owl looked more red under my light.
hmmmm...he's on there now........
And how about those glasses on the PL card -
goes perfectly with momma's glasses.
And finally used that flower from Basic Grey.
How cool is that title...from M's $1.50 bin.
It had some pale yellow and tan hombre going on
that didn't fit with the rest - so I painted it white
to stand out more.
Although now looking at it, it may have worked
in its natural state.

Studio Calico, Bella Blvd (owl), Basic Grey (flower).
OH and I used the Martha Stewart heart confetti punch for
with the gold paper and oooooooo some are itty bitty but oh so
adorable.

Happy Friday Happy Moment

Don't know who was more excited about this
mom or Amelia. Mom has been
waiting for a little girl in order to attend this bash.
This Studio Calico paper is perfect for the
Fairy Garden Party and of course Miss Amelia is
dressed for the part.
Fun layers going on as I picked out gold and pink
to accent the page.
Lots of fun little doodads scattered about and I'm
in a pearl and bling kind of mood this week.
It'll probably roll into next week too.
How about those gold birds?? and doesn't that bow
make you swoon too?
Love having gold paper around that I can punch
different accents out.
It was fun to do and I love Miss Amelia being a beautiful
little fairy flitting about.

Using a Rescued Page

You may remember this page from this post.
I did rescue it from the garbage because it was to pretty
to waste it even though it annoyed me.
I decided that layers and doodads was the way to go.
And I got to use my new stamp from my pal Holli as the title.
Not to mention an adorable photo to zero in on
so the boo-boos recede into the background.

It really was too pretty to toss.
Since the pages are going into 2 different albums
for 2 different families it doesn't bother me
that they look similar.
It wouldn't bother me if they were in the same album.
Just need to keep them far far apart LOL.
It's okay to lift yourself even if its inadvertently.

Punching out a background

I used the Martha Stewart go anywhere punch
and punched out this background.
It's actually the flip side of the paper that I wanted.
I then squirted some paint and ran it down the card stock page
and made a freakin' mess unlike Soaphousemama - where the idea
came from.
Because that's how I roll.
Therefore, this paper annoyed me and I started again.
I did pitch it and rescued it because in hindsight its not too bad.
So this is the new version
and of course I didn't think to take a pix of the start.
However, I punched and painted again and liked the
results much better.
The punch is weird though you have to line it up just right.
Imagine that.
This time if you'll notice my sewing machine went bonkers.
Somehow all the threads got tangled and I
must say it takes a real talent to screw the threads up in the bobbin.
Totally love how this turned out.
Well except for the stitching but its part of its charm.
Right?
All Studio Calico I think.
I'm up in the air about the critters.
Could be Paper Issues.

No Amelia doesn't where glasses but she freakin' rocks them.
In her mind all mom's wear glasses.
LOL. Kids.

Abandon to God - Bible Journaling

Abandon is a word used quite extensively by Oswald Chambers
and I have already used it in a couple of places in my Bible
and there will be more places to use the word Abandon.
Abandon - complete lack of inhibition or restraint.
Be carried away for God.
In Mark 14:6 Jesus points out that
Mary does a beautiful thing for Him and He loved it.
There were not many times in Jesus ministry that anyone
impulsively showed Him their love and Jesus
had to actually point this out because a couple of disciples
criticized Mary's impulsiveness.
How often had we been impulsive for God.
I used enamel paint and gesso for this page
as well as a foam heart, Martha Stewart punch and tiny alphas.
