We took the camper out for a ride

And it took us to Babcock-Webb Wildlife Management Area

which is a wonderful place for not only

a day trip but a few hours only trip

where we spent most of the afternoon loafing.

It started out as a lovely sunny day, however, as we neared

the park - the sky turned dark and dramatic.

(for those of you newbies - it means cloudy).

And it happens to me a lot - especially when traveling.

I'm sort of getting used to it.

While we lounged and enjoyed the view, finally some wildlife

came appeared within my viewfinder.

Some had to be track down - others just popped on in.

Others left their imprints.

Loved the wildflowers and weeds growing everywhere.

Black eyed Susies - 

my second favorite next to Daisies.

 That is a panther track - that we just happened to park near.

And verified it on the internet.

Isn't google wonderful.

 Thistles were amazing in attracting various critters.

A thistle happened to be close to my chair so I didn't have to

make a bunch of sudden movements and

honestly, the critters let me get quite near.

Yes I did have my 18-135 on - but I still needed to get

up close and personal to get closer that from

where I was sitting.

 The butterflies spent hours on that thistle.

I have 09879879709708970 photos and only 5 worthy.

 Black-eyed Susies.

Again.

 Back to the thistle.

 Beautiful coloring.

 And this adorable periwinkle flower.

Love the name periwinkle.

 And this badboy must have scared the snot out

of someone because he was beside

the road with his throat cut and rattler taken.

Ladies and gents.......

the Eastern Diamond backed Rattlesnake.

Dead.

Which is a shame because it is his habitat afterall.

 And as the sun came out the birds (or bird)

came out to sun.

And hmmm I managed to post every photo with dramatic skies.

I'm very skilled that way.

Hanging by a thread

The Studio Calico paper was totally cool and came that way.

It was perfect for the photo.

I wanted to use something a bit more ethereal than twine.

I saw this somewhere, but for the life of me can't remember who or where

but the artist used thread and scattered and curled it about the page and it looked amazing.

 Therefore I decided to use thread being the copy cat that I am.

It was easy to adhere it behind the title that I have wanted to use forlikeever.

The thread  was put at the top left corner because it needed something.

So I adhered the thread behind the photo corner.

I tossed the thread upwards defying gravity and popped on some gold enamel dots

to help with the gravity thing.

I had the prima foliage with butterflies forlikeever and yay!!! Finally used it.

Love the photo.

Studio Calico for everything except: the doily, foliage, bow, tag and noteworthy paper.

I thought I saw the thread artist on google + and I've looked and looked.

If you know who it might be, please put her name in the comments so I give her credit.

I didn't have to move, chase them down -

 all I had to do was basically point and shoot and try to get them in focus.

 Focusing was the hardest part.

Two of them were making me nuts as they couldn't

light and land at the same time.

Spring - for Off the Rails challenge

This is my page for the challenge at OTR for April.

It was a color palette and sketch challenge.

I have troubles with color palette challenges because I

never have the exact colors. Or all of the colors.

Which is why its a challenge.

Love these older papers by Jillybean soup. 

And if they don't have the exact colors - they have a facsimile thereof.

And you can't have spring without butterflies.

Nor is there not sprint without an adorable kidlet celebrating

that winter, long, cold, hard winter is history.

More or less - because this has been quite the fickle year.

I love kraft paper

It just works with everything.

It can be rustic.

It can be elegant.

It can be an accent.

So I don't remember who made that butterfly paper.

I know you're surprised.

However, it works great with the kraft.

 I kept this page kind of monochromatic.

Love the touches of beige.

I changed the butterflies 3 times.

I wanted to have a pop color so I chose blue/green

like Amelia's sassy.

However it had white in it and was glaring.

So I changed it to blue/green with beige. 

That was jarring.

So I went with black.

 Like the little black dress you can't go wrong.

Especially around kraft.

I also used transparency newspaper from K&co. as

a mat in order to show the second mat 

and to also keep the butterflies flying.

Can we say pop :) with the black butterflies.

I did a bit of layering in the 2 corners.

I kept the title simple - also black

 - I love the labeler look and it does bring it all together.

Those photos are a total hoot and was supposed to be

for another page I made, however, the photo

was way too big for the mat I created on the other page

so it gave me more mojo to create this page.

A total win.

However, I'm still hunting a photo for the other page

that I got my Wilna on.
