Labor Day Outtakes & the Build up to "the photo"

LOL.
I did have the presence of mind to check things out
BEFORE heading to the party.
Shocking I know,
but I hardly use my remote and if
you'll remember from past posts I had a
really hard time finding the remote let alone
figuring stuff out.
THEREFORE,
found remote - check.
read the directions - check.
gave said directions to Tom for interpretation - check.
Tom figured out the settings - check.
tried to use remote - check.
a new battery was needed and shockingly Tom had one.
Check.
I'm good with the tripod - check.
Then it became a timing issue because of the light.
Then there was the issue of how far did my remote go.
So Cami and her pal Isabella helped me out.
Well then mostly Cami.
So here is the series of "how far does that remote go."
Cami looks amused.

 I'm having a good time.
Because of the light or lack thereof as well as skills
I decided to break  tradition with the photo at the fence to
photo on the steps.
Then there was another remote check.
Gathering peeps celebrating was like herding squirrels.
Getting everyone to pay attention was like herding squirrels.
Trying to be subtle about using the remote.
Gave up subtle because everyone was getting impatient.
and shazam- there's all the squirrels paying attention.
Of course the kids were nowhere to be found for this photo
and when the kids finally appeared the crowd had long dispersed
and had zero interest in lining up again
SOOOOOO.....
SO kid photos were done separate.
And then there's always that one.
Zachery (the one in the middle)
 late to the party.

All in all a good time was had by all.

Last scrap on the road

I did do this a few days ago, but lack of WIFI/internet
well here ya go.
Currently, we are camped in Georgia, that now has
a state of emergency is some of their counties
because of Irma.
Irma is NOT nice and she needs to make a shart
right turn and go die in the Atlantic.
Enough already.

This photo is a recreation of one we took 10 years ago at
our family reunion. It was fun to do.
10 years - wow and I included a small photo of the one
from 10 years ago.
We really haven't changed much - we all look so young.
cough*cough
LOL
We also did a recreation of the 1st and 2nd cousins.
Since we all looked great 10 years ago I didn't feel the need
to include those. LOL.
However, I need someone to tell me who all the second
cousins are.
Sad though it may be, I've been in Florida since I was 15
so therefore, we all kinda lost touch until
the advent of technology.
So when I have their names I shall add them to my page.
Then came the Murphy reunion on Labor day, albeit
a few days early to work in everyone's schedule.
Another however, the weather totally sucked wind.
It was cloudy, cold and damp.
But we all survived and had a great time.
Grandpop and Annie - very special.
And photobombed by momma - who seriously
like momma like daughter.
Spitting image.
So we are poised on the brink of Irma.
We'll make it home tomorrow in time to set our house
aright for her big entry.

It was fun putting these pages together and again,
I brought waaaayy to much stuff.
It did make the whole scrapping thing annoying
instead of creative, as I was hunting things down and
so much I never used.
Therefore, next time, it's up to ya'll to reign me in.
LOL!!!
Good luck with that.

Labor Day in NJ

The weather was really ugly so we ducked under
Pat's beachhouse and just hung out.
The food was delish and the company terrific.

Grandpop and Annie..
 The Duffy fam with grandpop.
And of course bunny ears. Dad beat Owen to it.
LOL!!!

 Alan and June.
 Cami - 15 and a sophomore.
Where did the time go.... sheesh.
Me sporting the wind blown look with Cami.
 Annie and Goldie.
Lucas whose growing way too fast.
 Maureen and Herb.
Desert time and if you've never had cannolli dip and
chips - you have got to try it.
Sooooo yummy!
 Annie chilling for a bit.
 And the requisite selfies....
 with Annie and Owen.
I need to work on my framing.
Sheeesh.
Eventually we all moved into the beachhouse
to warm up because it became
really cold and damp so
the family photo by the fence did not
happen this year.
Total Bummer.

Oversized photo

This photo needed to be 8x10 more or less.
I wasn't going to back it but the photo paper I printed
it on was so flimsy and it needed some stiffness.
I was also out of my mind with printers this day.
My HP-8250 that I've had for a lot of years bit
the dust by spewing ink that couldn't be cleaned up.
Then for some reason my remaining
printer took FOREVER to print - because the lid
was up (which it wasn't), then I needed to change the ink
(which I did) and then it couldn't "see" it.
(which it finally found it).
SIGH.

Because of the "white space" at the bottom
I kept most all the embellies there.
I did get a bit over the top with words but
they worked.
Added this at the top because there were "legs" there.
Soooo. Now there aren't.

We take this photo annually and it's mostly family
and some friends.
The dynamics seem to be changing each year, people come and go.
And it was windy.
Really really windy - if you noticed.
I actually tossed mist on the photo.  *gasp*
I love doing pages like this - and need to do more.
If I could find 12x12 photo paper I'd be doing that too.

Labor Day at Ocean Beach with the Family - is baaack!!!

After THREE LONG YEARS the
beach houses at the shore have been built back up
and the Murphy annual Labor Day at the shore resumed
once again.
I did a terrible job of getting a lot of pictures.
This time was more in the moment than behind the viewfinder.
And the ones I did take required do-overs that you're seeing.

 Skimming stones.
 Was serious business.

Family and friends getting together for fun times and the food
was amazing as always.
IN fact there was enough to have seconds, thirds
and possible fourths the next day.
YUM!

Jumped right into my new kit--Labor day...

I KNOW. Another page with me and Tom in it.

I used some stuff from other kits as I couldn't bring myself to cut into virgin paper when I already had some cut up that matched.

Anyway, Labor Day this year was bittersweet as we lost Tom's sister and our reason for heading up this year was to say goodbye. Labor day had evolved into family get together time that we spent down at the shore, allowing for a time of relaxing and visiting. As you know, the shore was hit by Sandy so there are major renno's going on and there was no relaxing there.

Fortunately, we were able to hang out at Tom's sister's house in Red Bank and all the kidlets came and brought the littles with them. And littles have a way of making all things good again. It was good to tickle and cuddle. My new camera was passed about and played with - and that was a good thing, because my favorite SIL fixed the focus that was driving me nuts. AND they got pix of us. Total win-win.

Its good to be home, even with laundry and RV cleaning to do. Although we had a really great time. I'm dithering about what photos to print and do which is why I plunged in with the grands. Of course my dithering involves, do I do pages, albums, mini....what????

It was a start. And then another one - on scraps started. And hopefully more will flow.

Studio Calico- Sept KIT - on which I need to hurry and use as Oct is right around the corner.
AND DIDN'T THIS YEAR GO FAST. AND I have the Learn Something New from Shimelle waiting in the wings. I may wait and do it in November.

My Mind's Eye, Amy Tangerine thickers & rubons, American crafts labels and twine, Studio Calico paper and wooden embellies.

And have space - lotso of space.
Got some creativity out yesterday.
Today will be clean the RV day.

 were on these signs.
Sigh.
