Final Alaska photos- Denali

and it is of Mount Denali that graced us with its

presence on the train ride.

I waited until our return so I could print out an 8.5x11

because it is sooooo stunning and it allowed

my oversized badge that you can purchase at any

National Park store to be on the page without getting in

the way of the mountain.

It did cuminate in a 2 page spread and I printed all

the animals I was lucky to see and take photos of and

 in a 8.5x11 collage.

I even ID'd all the critters, keeping it simple. 

I also was able to find all those itty bitty things I collect like

the national park stamp with the date and

park on it, and that cool pin of dahl sheep that we

saw as total pinpricks against the sky when they were

high up on the mountain.

 Using this size and not PL pages allowed me to tuck

the pamphlets about the park

 that is put together along with maps, do's and don'ts

in any national park you plan to visit

It also allows to keep the bulk down in my books by not adding an additional page.

I do miss 12x12 size but I'm embracing this size.

I'm still dithering about with the TN because I love dimension

and dimension in not a friend of the TN.

Anyway, YOU NEEEEED to go to Alaska - it's wild

beautiful and huge.

Started on the Alaska Photos

Picked up these post cards somewhere

in Alaska. 

Love them and may incorporate them later.

Used up the last of my PL page protectors in this format

for these photos.

Went hunting them down last night and found 

similar but not these.

What is up with the switch???

Because I want to do one on Denali with all

the animals in this format.

Oh well.

Change is good right???

Kept everything sweet and simple

and need to fix the deers eyeball when I get home.

I miss my 12x12 pages already.

Sigh.

Around Ketchikan Alaska

It was dramatic skies but this pix shows the closest

I came to a whale while cruising

 onto Ketchikan.

 Or not a whale.

 These next pictures are actually coming into the dock

at Ketchikan and are they dramatic skies or what.

 And they aren't black and white.

 but could be but they aren't.

 From our balcony on the ship you get

quite the overview of the town.

 If you ever cruise you totally need a balcony.

 Statue of pioneers.

 My main man.

 Dolly's here was a house of ill repute and has

a few rooms inside that haven't been changed.

We didn't go inside.

 Aren't  they cute though.

Ketchikan was the last stop of the cruise and then

2 days to get to Vancouver.

It was a lovely ride.

Around the town of Juneau

The harbor is a happening place there are sea planes

taking off, boats chugging about and

ships docked.

Stores and restaurants dockside.

 Our ship.

 This is a statue of Patsy Ann a dog from

back in the day that ran the town.

She was deaf, and knew whenever a boat was coming in

and would go down to greet everyone coming off the boat.

 Hard rock miners.

The detail is soooo cool.

 Beautiful rhododendrones everywhere.

 Main Street.

 Made friends with a raven - they grown them big here.

They know they are the big shots around here.

 The back of the boat and two down from the top deck

and three cabins over is ours.

It rained cats and dogs earlier this a.m. - we did venture out

and then ventured back in - all wet.

After an hour or three, the sun came out and the rain

stopped - So we walked about.

Glacier Bay - Part 3

Oh and I had to cover up - I was getting sunburned.

Only 2 cruise ships a day are allowed in.

The weather was gorgeous.

It was just one of those amazing days where

we couldn't get enough.

Everything is gorgeous and over the top.

Glacier Bay-Part 2

We didn't leave our balcony all day.

Even called in room service because we didn't

want to miss anything.

And we didn't.

 Got some sea lions drifting on ice.

 Joined by a bird and others wanting to hop on.

 Relaxed.
