The Late in Leaving Tour- Tennessee Happy Father's Day

 We were late getting out of Florida because

the Dr. appointments ran late.

So...here we are in Tennessee hanging out

with dad and Jean.

These adorable ducks were a hoot to watch

and the babies were just too cute.

This is the VIEW from our motorhome

at the RV park.

Great seats!!!

Can't visit dad without a lot of games of cribbage.

He is the KING of cribbage.

I SKUNKED HIM TWICE 😁😁😁

It's a great time and he's really good at

the trash talk (he's 93).

He gets a lot of nurses visits and he has taught

each nurse how to play -

so he's at the end of the line so 

they could play at least 3 games.

During my visit I found that the nurses

are keeping him on his toes.

He loves black and white cowboy movies.

He builds train platforms with towns,

and farms and businesses therefore,

a lot of fun to look at.

Not to mention getting to run the trains. 

with supervision of course.

So much detail.

He's also a car dealers favorite customer.

He walked in bought a car 

when he was taking his NEW car in for an oil change.

He did that a few times so now

we have to ask what color the car is this time.

🤣🤣🤣

Go dad!!!!

Our travels through Tennessee

We have been there before and my dad and stepmom

live there so we make it every year

to visit.

This year we stayed a week

and had fun playing cribbage, dining out, 

hanging out, playing cribbage.

I actually skunked dad - which was OMGEE AMMAAAZZING!!

He's tough to beat.

We stayed at the Springs Lake RV park

our second time here.

Highly recommend - it's beautiful and this is the

view from our rig.

Doesn't get any better than that.

However, dad lives in Harriman and we stayed in Crossville

and Crossville is a different time frame.

It made things really interesting 

LOL!

Rained out at The Hermitage

The home of Andrew Jackson the 7th President of the U.S.

He also was a general and a statesman in both houses of Congress.

Called the Hermitage and located near

Nashville, TN.

 He is also the only president to pay of the national debt.

Bragging rights don't get better than that.

 He married Rachel Doelson Robards and caused quite a stir

because she wasn't quite divorced yet.

That fact wasn't known until after they lived together as a

married couple. DC society wasn't very nice to Rachel

even after the remarried once the divorce was final. She died

after his election and before he could take the oath of office.
He was heartbroken.

 The grounds, some of which we saw, prior to raining cats and dogs

is beautiful and huge. 

We did the audio tour and then

you get some guidance through the house.

Found those tour guides to be quite a snotty bunch especially

when faced with a question so I broke their rule

of no picture taking inside.

 Not quite a good excuse but they did rub me, and quite

a few others, the wrong way.

And I didn't use a flash.
So there.

 Everything is behind glass so that is the

glare you see.

 The dining room is absolutely stunning.

Didn't quite get all the rooms  so you'll have to check them out.

 Outlying buildings as he was a slave owner.

And below is where he's buried.

This was as close as I could get with the rain.

 And it seems deer like to come out on cloudy

rainy days when no one else is out.

There is also a museum chock full of stuff and all

the trees planted  in the new entry way came from battlefields

he was on.

Going through Tennessee

We went by the Lincoln Museum and of course

we had to stop.

There's a university attached - or vice versa.

 When you first walk in - this statue of

a younger Lincoln greets you.

 There was quite a bit of memorabilia for a small museum

although much as not original.

And that was fine with me - it was just so neat to see it.

 Made it to the parents place

and spent my time chasing hummingbirds.

They're quick lil buggers and this was the only decent one.

Of course my settings were wrong.

 Had a great time with grillin' and chillin'

 On the way out of town we stopped at and blew through

the Chicamauga & Chattanooga Military Park.

Chicamagua battle was the last major confederate victory.

Its a beautiful ride - since we had a destination - we stayed on

the main road.

Saw the youngest son.

We made a duckface.

HEADED HOME TOMORROW

AFTER 2 MONTHS AND 5 DAYS ON THE ROAD.

Thanks to all who "rode with us." 

It was fun and we'll be doing it again.
