Took a shortcut through Brice canyon

We didn't linger too long as we had
been there before.
And its beautiful - you should, at some point, go...
Every turn seems to take your breath away.
And everything changes - the sky, the terrain.
This was a tight fit it seemed.
And I tried to catch this rainbow.
It was really bright and beautifull.
We were in the clouds again with some snow.
Deer were everywhere. Of course I only got one shot.
They are very twitchy and they don't even know
what they're gonna do - but its
gonna be something.
This one listened and stayed put but it was close.
Deer in the headlights look.

Vermillion Cliffs-Arizona

US Hwy 89A was a very exciting adventure yesterday.
We were headed down to get to our campground
right across from Monument Valley before dark
and admired how pretty those red cliffs are.
And then a storm blew in.
And it got darker and of course the rain came.
Well it appears in the valley here with the red
clay - water and/or rain is not its friend.
As we were heading on our merry way - all of a sudden
the cars coming the other way were flashing their
headlights and waving.
We looked around and found nope - no sneaky cops
lurking in the bush waiting to nab you for speeding as
the sheriff already passed us.
Tom checked the lights and yup - they were on.
Well.
It appears that in Arizona - flashing lights means
flashing flooding and not only that
big boulders fell in the middle of the road and
workers are still trying to remove it the next day.
See that big mud pile - couldn't get a photo of the boulders though.
Because we had to return the same way we came
and go 100 miles out of our way to get where we wanted to go.
And in a couple cases we had to plow throw about
an inch of the muddy red clay.
Oh look the storm over the cliffs left.

Rainbow over Lake Palmer.
And if you could see how I got this shot you'd be
impressed. Sortof.
It was a driveby and I had to shoot from the passenger
seat across the driver - and out the driver's window
that has a bit of a concave to it.
Trick shot.
bwahahaha!

We made it to the campground way after dark
but did stop for a beautiful sunset.

View from our hotel room

Which is actually more like a one bedroom apartment. Its a beautiful view.
One we will never get in Florida. And it changes minute-by-minute.
The clouds do amazing things.
They kiss, they cover and they envelop and it never fails to amaze.

Another beautiful sight. It followed us all about town and it was difficult to take my eyes off it.

Flower Power

This is the stamp I used yesterday on my Gram's page. I really liked it a lot so I decided more would be better.

Therefore I stamped a bunch with black ink on some white cardstock and broke out the watercolors.

Being the decisive person I am, I decided that one of every color would work really really well. Remember RoyG.Biv? That's how I remember all of the colors of the rainbow.
I painted out of the lines because I wanted to cut them out and it keeps the white from peeking out. However, if it does peek on out - that's what layers are for.
Broke out the Tim Holtz scissors - I love them because the big handles are friendly to my arthritic fingers. In cutting the intricate details in the flowers - that was annoying and tedious but oh so worth it, turn the paper and not the scissors.
Also don't have a death grip on the scissors like my hands kept insisting on because it just annoys any tendonitus you may have going on in your arm.

And Wa--LA don't they rock on that paper. Hmm.....that was totally a lucky toss.

And then I printed a photo that has nothing to do with flowers. ooooooo a dilema
Stay tuned......................
